I am curious how many on here quit smoking and started vaping instead and have stayed with vaping (and not smoking) for the long term (like 2 or more years)?

I started vaping on 4 November 2011. That is over 2 years ago now.
And I stopped smoking tobacco as soon as I started my first e-cig, which was the eGo T, the best starter model at the time.
I simply did not want to inhale smoke any longer, as I had found something better. Much better. By several magnitudes :)

@buzzlove:

Thank you for the mention :)

I personally never intended to stop smoking. It just happened. As soon as I started vaping. As I had found a great alternative. Just like DC2 :)

So all you're going to get is people like me who have been vaping for four and a half years with no intention of ever quitting.

But then I never intended to quit smoking, so there you go.
:)

We have quite a number of long-term vapers in our German vaping forum as well. People who have found a great alternative to inhaling smoke. :)

I'm sure at least 80% of the people who have been vaping long term and quit vaping are not here anymore.

Yep, most people who quit vaping are not going to be hanging around ECF anymore, so your survey audience has that bias.

In August it will be 3 years for me, vaping and no smoking. If dropped nicotine, but I'm still using ~8-10 mg/ml usually. I don't have any intention of quitting vaping, although like DC2 states above, I didn't really intend to quit smoking either. I wanted to, but I didn't think I'd ever be successful.

I started with a cig-a-like December 18, 2009, but was unable to make the switch completely until September 25, 2011, thanks to upgraded equipment and higher nic.

It's been 2 years and 3 months since my last analog, and I can def say "I'M DONE WITH SMOKING!" :)

Hang in there. When it all comes together the way *YOU* like it, no more worries...and no more ciggies! ;)

I started vaping with Mistic cig-a-likes almost two years ago. I vaped and smoked for about three weeks. Then one afternoon I ran out of cigarettes and was just too lazy to go and buy some more. I haven’t had a cigarette since and probably never will. I like to think that I’ll stop vaping someday, but right now I enjoy it and it’s cheap, so quitting just isn’t a priority.

Sorry - my wording was probably off. I was asking how many people vape instead of smoke and have managed to stay quit ciggys for the long term with vaping as the substitute (so they don't return to ciggys)... and from the look of the answers there is hope for me yet! I am only 2 and a half weeks into vaping, lol....

Here is a thread I think may help: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/general-e-smoking-discussion/509250-list-lives-saved.html There are some long time vapers that have posted. :)
I'm over a year myself and I was one of those that thought they would bury me with a cig in my hand.

Dear, there is a whole new world ahead of you! :)

First of all: congratulations on vaping for 2 and a half weeks! That is a great milestone!

And just wait until you discover all the lovely nice-looking vaping gear for the lady. To go with all your clothing styles and jewelry :)

Yes, vaping is a great alternative to smoking tobacco. Tastes better, smells better, is much better for your health. Makes a wonderful hobby, and has great-looking "accessories" for the lady. Welcome to the world of vaping! :)
