Just a year for this guy.......... literally today. Tried the disposables and the look-alikes for about 3 years on and off and it wasn't until I got "serious" with tanks that I quit smelling like an ash tray.

Now if I could get the people off my back that have the "when are you going to quit THAT" mentality...

Congrats on your year!!!! Lol - people ask me (already after only 18 days, lol) when I'm going to start cutting down the nic. I tell them never. I like the nic. I just didn't like the smoke...

Come to think of it I did have occasional urges too, but I was determined not to smoke. I know for sure that I haven't had any urges for at least the last two years. I do remember having some 24 mg around (thats what I started with) for the times that nothing seemed to cut it, but all I do now is 16 to 18 mg. Man, 24 mg reminded me of my High school 'nic buzz' days lol

edit; I think there is something besides nicotine in those cigs that addict you too. :?: I was getting plenty of nic in the early days, but something else was still missing. Good news is after about the first few months, I didn't seem to miss it any more

There is ... MAOI in tobacco smoke that combines with nicotine to keep you hooked on the smoke. It's what gave you that relaxed Ahhh! feeling when you finally made it out to the smoking area and lit up. As vapers, we reportedly get only about 10% to 30% of the nic that we received from cigarettes. Chemicals in cigarettes virtually free based the nicotine to enhance the effects. vaping is more "Plain Jane" consumption of nicotine without the MAOI component. It satisfies the urge, but doesn't make us crave more and more. We are satisfied with just enough nic to keep us happy and without the addictive cravings.

I got my 510 kit and screwed up and quit by accident, I didn't intend to quit at the time. I slowly tapered my nicotine for a year and a half and went zero nic for another half and put it down completely. Like a complete ..... I sold off my gear thinking I'd never need it again but thanks to an overly stressful job and some complete jackhole coworkers I started smoking again. If I'd kept my gear I could have went back to zero or low nic and been ok but now I'm at 12mg and slowly tapering again.

Moral of the story? Don't get rid of all your gear even if you think you've put it down for good. I'm a nicotine addict and I admit it, I'll always be one but with e-cigs I don't need to be a smoker.

Thanks!

I see the guitar strap in your avatar picture. What are you playing?

This one is my favorite. I installed the Seymour Duncan Pearly Gates pickups that made it come alive.

I started purchasing that something else. WTA... it settles that little bit that e-liquid with just nic doesn't.

Just like most of the replies here, I stopped smoking the day I got my first decent ecig ( eGo) over 4 years ago. I am still around smokers now and then and have never had the urge to smoke a cigarette. I have had no success getting others to quit. I even bought one for my sister and she keeps it in the drawer and continues to smoke........I see many get the cig-look-alikes who decide it does not work (DUH....ya gets what ya pay for). All of them buy the junk sold at tobacco stores....( ahem, they want to sell tobacco and will NOT market anything good that takes away from tobacco sales).

I had not been around or checked the newest mods for a LONG time. I just discovered the Kayfun 3.1. LOVE it!!!! I may buy another.

(EDIT: I had to edit the date.....my gosh has it been over 4 years already?!! I quit the same month I joined this community)
