I have realised that I have a lot of cartos! Not as much as some of you, but enough that I am starting to wonder if they'll keep.

My strategy was to get a couple of flavors I like, use one carto of each flavor (so I've got enough to last about a week before refilling) and refill till it fails and then on to the next one till they're finished.

My problem is that with the above mentioned rotation, refilling method I might not get to some of the cartos in my stash for about 6 to 9 months! (And then Steve mentions how good the new cartos are going to be be 8-o, but that's a whole different issue, lol).

So, I was wondering whether it's better to keep on going as I am and leave them unused till I get to them. Or, will it be better to use them once, so that they are dry, put their plugs and caps back and then go back to my strategy till I get to them.

Any thoughts?

That's a good question! I am interested in everyone's thoughts on the matter.
So far I keep my new cartos in a big covered candy dish, out of the box but with all the plugs and covers on. The used and refilled ones go in a second smaller candy dish. The used ones waiting to be refilled go in a box. I have yet to have a used one fail on me! But I keep trying new flavors that go into rotation. So that means I don't vape the same one every day. What IS the shelf life?

Those are good questions. Here is my take:
Under optimal conditions the e-juice will last for about 2 years. I hear that putting it in a fridge extends the freshness.

If you leave the caps off the cartos for an extended periods the fill gets too dry and won't do a really good job of absorbing the liquid. Sorta like a totally dry and hard sponge won't pick up a spill worth a darn.

Keeping the caps on and keeping them in a cool dry place, maybe in a sealed plastic sandwich bag would probably get the most life out of the cartos. I don't think 6-9 months should be a problem if they are stored properly. Take care of your cartos and they will take care of you.

From what I know, the best long term storage would be dark and about 40-50 degrees. I thought I heard somewhere that the fridge is a bit too cool, but YMMV.

You know, this made me think of emptying my little wine fridge, setting the temperature up a bit and loading it with juice and carts.

8-o
