Yes, for me it's extreme. 2 canisters, gallon each, in my freezer? No way.
For those who are looking for VG and PG. I just bought a gallon of each from Heartlands Vapes, added 100 ml of some high quality nicotine ($13, a bit expensive but I've never tried it) and had to pay $50.49, i.e. enough for free shipping. I see it as a good deal.
Each to his own I guess. Fair play.
I buy my VG and PG in smaller quantities than you, 1l at a time- so just over a quart of a gallon each. My nic i bought recently costed just over 60 punds, so around 72$, 4x 250ml. All fitted in 1 out of 4 of my freezer drawers, and there was enough space for my frozen fish food to top it off. Flavor concentrates landed in the fridge. I don't have crazy amounts of flavoring, maybe 20 bottles altogether ranging from 30-500ml, so they didn't take too much space. I can live with that.
If I ever end up stocking larger quantities, I'll consider getting a small second-hand tabletop freezer. 50-60$ after conversion, just had a look. So just as much as I would spend on cigarettes in 5 days of regular smoking. Nothing. I have a cupboard with a socket in my flat, wouldnt be a problem to fit it inside. And I could keep extra fish I catch in there whenever I have a surplus. I believe juices stored that way will keep their quality longer, the nic will not lose its potency, and I will ingest less of the harmful stuff. That's the reason why I gave up smoking- choosing less harmful options, to still enjoy myself, but not end up like my grandpa- with one lung at the age of 59 and dead at 64....
That was my last offtop post, sorry to OP for drifting away slightly lol

Both VG and PG are preventives of bacterial growth. You will not see it in not diluted liquids. Our VG and PG are bacteria safe. By the way, 2% of ethanol will do next to nothing to bacteria.
And why do you think ethanol is bad for lungs? Or at least worse than PG, VG or nicotine? From time to time I like to add some bourbon to my juice.

Could you name please any study that shows that contamination occurred during storage? I think there no such studies.

Bottom line: we should not bother ourselves with worries about bacteria growing in our juices.

Have enough background for what I saw. And do not recommend using VG past reasonable shelf-life. But this is the internet.
