Right now I am still smoking but trying to find an ecig that's closet to a Marlboro light and not too terribly expensive. I love the njoy disposable size and weight, but it has 3% nicotine and hurts my throat. I also like the Green Smoke it's much longer and heavier than a traditional cigarette and I believe I was smoking 2.4% which also hurt my throat. I tried the FIN recently which is a 1.6% and it seemed to not hurt my throat but tastes horrible. I bought the 1.8% disposable mistic which weren't too bad. They were the cigalike I wanted but I still had to draw a little too hard, especially after a few uses. So I bought the rechargeable and was pretty annoyed that they were NOT the same size as the disposables. No help at all from customer service except to confirm that yes indeed the disposables were not the same size as a cigarette. DUH!!!! So I bought 1.2% carotomizers and they do NOT hurt my throat. YAAAAYYYY!!!!! Still not a cigalike size....Not sure if I will stick with this or try VOLT or V2 or Neo, as suggested. V2 I think is still a bit bigger than cig and Neo is only available in 1.8% or higher. Any other suggestions? Also, has anyone tried to take Chantix, or something similar while vaping to reduce withdrawal and crankiness? LOL!I guess I should add that I would like a rechargeable (or disposables you can buy in store) that you do NOT have to refill yourself. Just a plain old two-piece e-cig with no fancy flavors.

Refilling your self isn't a big deal. It's going to be a lot cheaper to buy new juice than a new carto set up, and you will enjoy the extra vapor a lot more. I'd suggest ordering a cheaper one with a 510 connection and a clearo. I've found that T-2 tanks are easy as pie to fill up. The center post sticks up way to far to accidentally get juice in it.

Well, the Volt is real nice. But I think from what it sounds like, you really need to buy their blank cartomizers and try some different juice samples from vendors to find flavors you really enjoy. Then you can fill the cartomizers with whatever juice you prefer. I have the Volt (among other higher end mods) and I have their blank cartomizers, because I'm picky about my flavors and have a ton of juice to use in them already. Sounds like you really need just blank cartomizers. If any of the vendors you currently have a cigalike sell blanks, then get those and try sample small size juices from different vendors.

Well, if you find one that stops you from smoking - then good for you.

But. That's a big but. I can not in my conscience recommend you one. Sorry.

If you are interested, read the gray text for my recommendation.

Cheers

Good luck with your search.

I currently use a Vapor4Life Vapor King Diamond series. It's, of course, heavier than a cig...but the weight balance is nice, and I can hold it almost like a cig.

Their batteries are KR808D-1 threading, so any compatible cartos will work on them, but I find the cartos directly from them are pretty good. They're got a nice amount of vapor, and they've been lasting me a while. (I was a PAD Camel Wide smoker, I'm currently vaping about half a carto a day.) Tons of flavors. I've been vaping their Apple lately, and it's really nice. Plus they come in a really wide variety of nic strengths, from 0 nic up to 36 nic. Price isn't horrible, either - $10.50 for a 5-pack. (yeah, it's more than filling yourself, but that price has a lot of convenience behind it!) Battery life is not horrible - one battery lasts me most of the day. It goes dead around dinner time, so I plug it in, eat, and use my USB passthru the rest of the night.

As for the withdrawls, I know you said the higher nic strengths hurt your throat, but I would suggest getting a variety of nic strengths - 6mg, 12mg, and 18mg, maybe. You can then hit the higher strength when you're having a really bad time with the withdrawl, and that might help. :)

the halo g6 is a good cig a like. they are rechargeable and you can buy prefilled cartos for them. if you decide to start filling the cartos, they also have those, and it is easy. if your nic level is high enough, you won't have the cravings. what could be bothering your throat is your pg/vg ratio. if mine is different than 50/50, it bothers my throat and sometimes my chest....most don't stay with cig a likes for long usually, so you may want to just go ahead and do an ego-c 1300 mah battery with a ce5 clearomizer. it would mean you can use it for 13 hours before charging. my freedom smokes. com would be a good place for that starter kit. welcome and good luck to you.

US Light by MyFreedomSmokes was my first Marlboro Light juice, and I thought it was right on the money. They also make a Marlboro Red flavor. You can order any nicotine strength you prefer, including no nicotine. You will need a nicotine delivery device, a topper, that will allow you to use your own eliquid. There are several that you may like. The problem I had with the cigalikes was that the battery life just didn't work well for me. I need around 2000 - 2500 mAh to get through a day. With most cigalikes, that's like ten charges or something, so it was a bit ridiculous. This was in 2009 when that's about all there was. I went back to smoking, rather than endure the vape requirements of the day. By 2011, we had little 650 mAh batts, but I only knew about them at the mall, and three or four of those batteries with chargers and the atomizer tanks of the day was over $200, as far as I knew. Today, we have literally hundreds of choices, in all sizes, shapes and forms. I know the cigalike is preferable because it is more familiar, but if you can go one size bigger to at least an ego sized battery, then you can find many different toppers to use with any juice you like. The evods are excellent vapes, imho. Next step up to a Protank II, which is the best clearo in the market, imho. They have replaceable heads and are relatively easy to use and maintain. Also, they're the size of a cigar, or sharpie pen, so not that much bigger than an ecig, but with 1300 mAh batteries with variable voltage, some, including the iTaste 3.0 with variable power, they are outstanding. You can check them out very inexpensively on Fasttech for under $20 with a topper. The most recommended kit on the New Member Forum this year is probably the MyVaporStore kit:

http://www.myvaporstore.com/Vision_Spinner_Joye_Ego_C_Twist_Combo_p/vvs-c.htm

These are really excellent and I recommend them with Spinners and Evods. Very Nice. The only ecigs I have used was a free sample NJoy that I got over the last month or so, and I thought it was excellent. But it lasted half or day or less and at $8.00, is more than my vape cost for an entire week for me. I vape my own DIY juice and recoil my own heads, so it's dirt cheap.

Most vapers start with cigalikes and we see that here all the time. Usually, though, within two weeks, they move up to the ego/stick batteries because they batteries are better, they have variable voltage which provides a better vape, and they allow any ego threaded or 510 connection topper. Check out the iTaste 3.0:

iTaste VV 3.0 - Variable Wattage Device - Pearl Chrome | Variable Voltage | MODS | iVAPE

With the "itastevv" coupon code, they are 30% off. This is the best stick battery in the world, imho, and they are smaller than a Twist or Spinner, though slightly larger than a 650 mAh ego battery (the tiny ones). They are 800 mAh and should last you about 8 hours, so you really need two. I would say that two of these with the evods and some good juice, and you are well on your way to a great vape experience. They use usb charging too, so they can be charged by computer, car charger, wall outlet, etc. Full time serious vaping takes some good batteries to make it convenient, so I always encourage their use. Also, they have variable power, like a Vamo, perhaps the best value in an entry level APV, with an Ohm meter, +/- buttons, even a puff counter. Truly excellent. I don't even work for Innokin, though I did stay in a Holiday Inn Express last night and have four iTastes. Excellent as primary, backup, stealth, and out and about batteries. Highly recommended. Good luck in your VapeQuest. Happy shopping, congrats on getting here and Welcome to the Forum! Best to you!

I'll second the comment from Bill's Magic Vapor about the battery life of the cigalikes being less than satisfying. I started out knowing that I only wanted a cigalike (it's all I'll ever need, I told myself), and bought the G6 kit which is similar to the Volt setup - prefilled or empty cartomizers and lots of juice options. The only problem I kept running into, though, was that I LOVED to vape - like, almost more than breathing! :vapor: I was running through 3-4 batteries a night on my cigalikes and it was getting a little old. So, I succumbed. In fact, I got the iTaste VV 3.0 (with an MVP 2 on the way because I still need more battery life).

In the end, though, I'd say that you have to start where you're comfortable. If you want the cigalikes, which btw I still use when I'm out and about, then do it! Volt and G6 are pretty similar (identical, really, and Smokeless Image has an ongoing 15% coupon code here on ECF), but the eroll is supposed to be one of the smallest form factors out there. Regardless of what you decide, stick with it! This really works :)

Besides the level of nicotine, the percentage of propylene glycol (PG) also impacts throat irritation. You might want to start out with an all vegetable glycerin (VG) juice at a higher nic level (18 mg if you were a lights smoker and 24 mg if you were a Marlboro Reds or unfiltered Camels smoker. You can also try a 50/50 mix of PG and VG.

I skipped the cig-a-likes and started with an eGo, but have spent quite a bit of time getting educated on the cig-a-likes because I'm not having much luck converting friends and family to even consider harder to use setups. From what I see, the Smokeless Image Volt Pro Starter Kit is a good one. The Volt batteries have a grippier surface and are regulated. They're available in a wider selection of colors and LED tip lights. Their automatic ones are sealed to be fluid resistant (not fluid-proof though). Their PCC has a 1,000 mAH replaceable battery (four full charges of a 65 mm cig battery), the battery under charge just snaps in, rather than screwing in, and there's a space for a second 65 mm battery with carto or longer battery without. Starting out with the PCC and two 65 mm cig batteries fully charged, a carto on one in the PCC plus a 5-pack of cartos, would give you 1440 mAH and about 5 ml of juice. The cartos can be refilled a few times.

Smokeless Image is running a 22% off in stock items sale through Sunday with code restock919

I also have the Joyetech eroll. Although they are a hassle to refill, it does have the size and feel of a cigarette. I only use it when I go out.

I went to this outdoor awards party tonight. I went over to an area where no one was to enjoy some vaping with my 'beverage' because I'm still self conscious with the e cig. Two separate times, someone came over and lit up a cigarette because they thought I was smoking. One asked me if I had a light.

If you do start out with prefilled cartos for the ease of use, let me encourage you to save the spent cartos and their rubbery plastic end caps (known as "carto condoms" on ECF). It won't take you too many five-packs to realize how expensive using prefilled can be and how much less a 30 ml bottle of juice costs compared to the equivalent six to seven prefilled five-packs. You'll be watching carto filling how-to videos soon after and will be grateful you have those empties to refill.
