Calling all experts!

My husband and I use carto tanks and love them, but only when they're fresh. I think it's time to experiment with RBAs, specifically rebuildable atomizer tanks. I'm willing to put out big bucks for one eventually if necessary. If at all possible, I'd like to learn on something cheaper just in case it doesn't work out.

Is there a cheap, reliable rebuildable atty tank that will give me an idea of the effort and techniques required to get up and running? If I do need to go into something more expensive eventually to get all the specs I want, then I'd prefer whatever cheaper version I start with to to mimic the build requirements of the more expensive one I might end up with. Does that even make sense? :p

Before I get lots of posts questioning why would I need something more expensive, let me say I'm not sure I actually do. I have some requirements that I won't budge on as far as long term usage. So if there is something out there that fills my needs and is already pretty affordable, I'm all over it. I don't need to spend just for the sake of spending.

So, my long term requirements are it needs to be made of a metal like stainless steel or perhaps titanium (haven't done any research in this area, so not positive), and it needs to have a glass tank. I know of several RBAs out there that fit that bill, but they are either hard to get hold of or they're expensive enough to give me pause when I'm not certain I'll love them. Short term requirement is only that it will give me an idea if I even want to look for an RBA that fits my long term requirements.

Any advice? It's much appreciated. :)

You could try an RSST. If you get this figured out and working, this could lead you to the AC9 (the RSST is the clone of the AC9).
You might even keep the RSST as this is quite a good RBA for less $'s and get the performance you require.
The RSST is a good one to start with and IMO and can be a little easier than other RBA's out there.

Yeah the RSST is a good starter, but it does not have a glass tank. If glass is a must (like you only vape very acidic or cinnamon liquids) I would recommend the AGAT+. Both can be had around $30 though so not a huge initial investment. You'll also need SS MESH (maybe 500 can be found for ~$8 on eBay) and you can find 100ft of Kanthal A1 32. awg on eBay for $6.

Only suggested the RSST to be a tester for a more expensive RBA and if MustangSallie likes it, she could move onto the AC9 (with the bullet proof glass tank).

That's right. Glass isn't a requirement for the "training" RBA, only for the longer use RBA. It's not so much tank cracking as it is I made an effort some time ago to move to MY idea of the safest delivery system I could find. For me that means glass and delrin or stainless (possibly other metals after I've had time to research). I had a bad experience with an acrylic tank and I didn't like how all my poly tubes used to get etched. Something is going on there... at least in my head, and in the end, that's the most important factor, how comfortable you are that you haven't traded one horrible habit with something only slightly less horrible. :)

Thanks! I'll take a look at both.

Thank you! I'll take a look at the AGAT+. Is this also a reliable long term tank? I'd rather have one or two expensive ones that will last than have to buy a new cheaper one every few months.

they are both pretty tight and will need to be drilled if you like an airy draw. If you PM me your address ill send you my agat+ with glass tank for free. It has been drilled out, negative post removed and drilled so it can run a uwick and refinished to a brushed finish. Its pretty much perfect and the tank is brand new never seen juice. All I ask is that if u like it and decide to buy your own that you pass it to the next geni virgin at no cost

Varivapr, that's very generous of you. I've done the same exact thing with mods and carto tanks of my own. I'm wondering if a u-wick is too advanced for me right now when I'm not even sure I can successfully wrap a single wick. Maybe I should stick with the basics. Again though, incredibly generous and in the true spirit of ECF!

The AC9 tank is plastic, not glass. I believe the glass tank is in prototype stage. It hasn't been released yet.

I don't think the inexpensive ones break often, they just might be machined with slightly lower quality parts. They ar knockoffs, so most of the savings is because you are not paying the designer (more of a moral dilemma there I guess)

"This is the tank for the AC9. This tank is made from a special PMMA (the same stuff used in bullet proof glass), and is slightly opaque giving a frosted glass look."

Poly(methyl methacrylate) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

"Poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) is a transparent thermoplastic, often used as a lightweight or shatter-resistant alternative to glass. Although it is not technically a type of glass, the substance has sometimes historically been called acrylic glass"

Lol, sorry to call you out bro, just trying to save MustangSallie $150 (+$30 for RSST) if she only wants glass, she'd be disappointed when she got it I imagine.

Maybe MustangSallie would be extremely grateful if by chance she was to drop her $150 device. At least the tank would not break!!! LOL.
