I saw in a earlier thread where got vapes sold wire and wicking to redo vivi nova. I am waiting for the vivi nova to come in but would like to purchase some wicking and wire also. I could not find the wire and wicking on the website. Where would it be located? Also, how do you control the resistence of the rebuilt atomizer making your own coil? Is it by how many wraps of the coil or the gauge of the wire?

Thanks

You misunderstood or misread what you saw...

GV will at some point pretty soon have some wicking and wire for sale... it hasn't made it in yet. No ETA has been mentioned other than coming soon ( more or less )

They have actually, up till now, been giving away a bit with an order that requested some in the comments WHEN they had it to give

I wouldn't mess with the wick and wires. You can now buy coil heads already assembled, but if you do, be careful, there are a lot of caution threads or posts.
Also the resistance has to do with the length of the wire and which gauge and type. I'm reading that many are also starting to use titanium wire instead of the nickel chromium based.

I'm ok with the slight modding I've had to do to get these products to work, but expecting me to completely rebuild it myself is getting a bit ridiculous.

Taking the Fluxomizer apart, clipping the seal and widening the wick slots was a bit of a hassle at first, but now I can get these things working great 9 times out of 10.

But now once I make the jump to the Vivi Nova or something similar, I'm literally going to have to take the thing apart and completely rebuild the heating element? Why can't they just use the improved materials on the manufacturing side and not make the consumers do it themselves?

I actually like the bit of tinkering I do with these things, but being forced into it because the product won't perform at its highest quality without modding isn't really the best situation to be in.

 You don't have to rebuild it yourself. there are just those people who have to take things apart and want to play at improving it themselves. I have the vivi nova, bought extra heads for it and I'm all set. I love it just the way it is and so do many other people. The fact that it's sold out every where should tell you something. For those who are modders. bravo, have fun, but it isn't a something you have to do if you're not so inclined. :)

Some people, maybe a lot, have bought the Vivi Nova BECAUSE it's able to be rebuilt so easily. I did. Yes, I drilled a bit. Yes it works well. I don't count on anything being fool-proof in this industry. It's still a baby. We have to expect imperfections. The Vivi Nova is no exception to the rule. If you're able to tinker with it, buy it. Tinker. If not, buy replacement heads when the ones supplied go "pfft".

Well, I haven't tried the Vivi Nova yet, but I actually do have to mod my Fluxomizers to get them working properly.

First order of Fluxomizers, 3 out of the 5 had black/charred seals from the heating element burning them. 1 out of the 5 had brown spots from the heating element burning it. And the last 1 had decent wicking, but needed to sit for awhile to get any juice to the coils.

After modding, I got all 5 to work perfectly. No dry hits, no burned taste and can reasonably chain vape (Like 3 puffs every 10 minutes if I wanted to).

If I want a subpar product, I wouldn't mod. But if I want the equipment I purchase to work the best it can, you absolutely have to mod it.

I've tried the fluxos and yes you have to do something to get them to work right, which I've done. I haven't had to do anything to my vivi nova and if it comes to having to buy wire and wick they'll have to count me out. My hands don't work well enough for that any more. I was simply addressing your perception that you HAD to build your own. That simply is not an option for me and I'm happy with replaceable heads. :)

Oh I definitely agree that the Vivi Nova is very consistent from the reviews I've read, but why don't they just do these mods in the manufacturing end instead of making the consumer have to choose between an ok vape, and a great one?

I do love GotVapes' products, but don't like being forced to look up ways to mod everything to make it work optimally.

And if the reason is that the manufacturing with improved wicks/wire just isn't possible, then that's fine! Or that it would be really expensive and drive the price up, I would not complain.

Right now, though, all I see is that I have to buy the product, and make it work myself instead of just getting something that works.

I'm with yiddle.....they work just fine for me. I've been using the vivi nova since day one and V1....and have only had to replace one head. I have a supply ready when I need them. I have little inclination to try and rewind coils when I can just screw on a new one in 5 seconds....heck, I don't think I could even see it without one of those big magnifier light setups....lol.

First... it appears you are only paying attention to the negative reviews of certain products.... First thing I learned was that not all people have the same results or issues as others. On the Vivi Nova v2.5 and the new Stardust Rebuildables, most like them as they are with the only alteration that some people prefer is short wicks vs the long ones... and that last one is a personal preference which the factory can't take into account for.

The variations in the different juices ( thick or thin etc ) make it where certain cartos/clearo's work out of the box with certain juices but if you change the juice... suddenly a change is needed in the seals or other areas.. There is no way a factory can make one product work 100% of the time with all of the variations that exist... Even the subject with the silicone seals getting scorched can't be completely addressed since the difference between a scorched one and one that didn't scorch is less than a millimeter... in otherwords just raising the seal ever so slightly means it won't scorch but if you put in a drip tip that is a bit long and it pushes the seal down... again it scorches. If they make the wick slots larger to help avoid dry hits with a certain juice, then the thinner juices will over wick and you have a leaky clearo.

Because of these types of variations ( of which I only covered a few characteristics of )... the factories set each one up for what they classify as "average" juice and use.... If you have chosen a juice that isn't that "average" or if you vape in a mannor that is different ( chain vape perhaps ).... that will affect how the carto/clearo behaves.

i just love this definition of "chain vape". i don't know what i do, as i puff a vivi about every 10 seconds untill the top cap gets hot. then i give it a few minutes rest. lol. i guess my chain has smaller links...ha..........vince
