Hey all,
I've been vaping for 3 years now.
Started with small stick bats and cartos, then went to ego style, including a couple of VV's like the Spinner and a variety of tank clearos.
Right now I'm using an MVP 2 and evod tanks.
I started building micro coils with cotton and doing diy juice a few months ago.
I'm probably going to get a Kayfun pretty soon, but that's another topic.
I'm happy with the MVP, but even after just a couple months, I can tell it's not holding a charge as long as it was and it's annoying that I can't just swap the batteries.
I've also had quite a few batteries completely stop working over the last couple years.

So I'm looking to get my first mech so I can avoid the unreliability of electronics and easily swap batteries when one is drained.

I don't want to spend a lot, but want something reliable that will last me all day, whether it's on one battery, like an 18650 or by swapping out smaller, lower capacity batteries.

Any suggestions for a solid, but inexpensive mech?
What about batteries?
From what I've read, it sounds like AW IMR is the way to go, probably 18650 2000 mah.
But I'm certainly open to suggestions.
And what is a decent, but inexpensive charger?
I've read that some of them are crap.

I assume by "inexpensive" that you mean clones. Here are some great ones:
Vapetech Pegasus
Vapetech overdose
Shenxi slug mod

How long the battery lasts depends on what you build. I generally use VTC5 batteries, Samsung 25R, or LG HE2.

Yeah, I didn't really say what that means. I was hoping to stay under $60 or $70 for the mod, a few batteries, and a charger, if possible.

I like my fasttech 17 dollar Nemesis clone for 4 reasons:

Cheap
simple setup...Simple switch and center pin
reliable
Came with a Kick ring.(extra ring so that you can install a kick or fuse module without losing battery size.)

I also like the Kayfun Lite. bottom screw fill and airflow adjuster.

DONT buy a Plume veil clone. You'll wear more juice then you vape.

Batteries.....Buy the best you can find. These Efest 30 amps are ok but the next time I hit the Shop I'm walking out with a pair of Sony's.

Get a good ohm meter....EVERY time you change the battery you need to inspect the center pin, switch and battery wraps for wear and tear....Retire anything that doesnt look right. I bought mine in plain copper so I could see heat damage and the plating wouldnt wear off. After a month the base has a nice patina on it.(I like it, others dont)

Clean all threads occasionally...You will see signs of electrolysis (darkening of the metal at the thread)(Normal unless erosive or green)

Enjoy. I put 17 bucks into the Nemi, 18 bucks into the Kayfun clone, 10 bucks worth of wire and 12 in Japanese cotton....I'm thinking its the cheapest new rig I've ever had and all I should have to buy for the next 6 months is juice.

Heat is a good sign something has gone terribly wrong.

Good luck with your hunt!

P.S......DONT PUT IT IN YOUR PANTS POCKET UNLOCKED!
