You have to catch them before they go to seed. I've had them in the early summer but they do go to seed pretty soon after. But if you pick them and leave the roots they come back every yr. We had a patch that grew by our mail box when I lived there. Onions are another good wild vegetable. I liked those and wild strawberries.
These are from there. They grow in or close to the ditches a lot.

I never heard that the mushrooms were only in the midwest, but I can tell you they are not here that often, it is rare. Although we have huge forest fires every fire season in the 12 years I have been here (until this year, the lakes and rivers are all flooding and no smoke in the sky at all) there was only one year out of the twelve that people went mushroom crazy, so it must be rare here....

My mom grows asparagus in here garden... although not wild it is really good.

Our favorite thing to do is go huckelberry picking... those are some good berries. Like the morels I was told they grow only here, but I think someone told me they grow else where.

5card, have I missed an announcement elsewhere. I have not heard any baby news.

And to stay on topic, I hope Bov is feeling better and her move is going smoothly!

Congrats 5CS! Babies are beautiful!!!

That asparagus looks soooooooooooo yummy. Makes me wanna throw some on the grill right now!
Thank you Jen and that's a great idea for grilling the Asparagus.

Congrats 5card... how is the mommy doing? I hear from my mom that being a grandparent is better then being a parent.... My oldest is only 13. I waited until 27 to have one, I hope I won't have to find out until then if my mom is right!
Thank you Moorea. I think they both have their rewards. I wouldn't give up either spot.

Great, I got a message from our Beloved Bovinia and she's doing a little better. She has been a very sick lady from the heat. That heat kills people every yr. and is nothing to mess with. I'm glad she's doing better but she still sounded pretty sick. The poor girl, she is such a sweetheart to us all. I'll keep the prayers going for her.

Seeing the pic of your new grandson was great medicine 5C! He's beautiful!!!

Thanks to everyone for your positive thoughts! I'm feeling better, keeping down food and water so I'm on the mend. I will never, ever again forget how bad the heat can be for you!

Please continue to derail away! I'm enjoying hearing about mod's new computer build and Charlie's shroom farming! I used to pick Fiddleheads when I lived in Maine...yum!
