with all the taverns in Wisc, I dont see that going over so well. I'd swear there's a tavern on every corner in West Allis *heh*

Watertown (my hometown) has the dubious distinction of having more bars per capita than any other town in the USA.....Add in the bratz, and we're a very-ah-musical town.....

Half the population is plastered nightly, and damn proud of it <hic>

I live in NY(one of the early adopters) and it sucked at first, no bars, no restaurants, but I got used to it I guess.
Big groups of half drunk people gathered on a sidewalk make for some great entertainment LOL

Tone, I remember when NY went no smoking.

It did not affect me that much. When I visit the hamptons every summer my favorite watering hole still lets me smoke in there. All they do is substitute ashtrays with shot glasses. Kind of a joke if you ask me.

What surprised me was when Nevada went to no smoking laws. Of course they had some loop holes like in casinos which is everwhere.

As someone who lives about 60 miles outside of Las Vegas, I can tell you that the non smoking laws here are pretty much ignored. Sure.. most restaurants wont let you smoke.. but the gas station slots are pretty much fair game after 6 PM and even some bar and grill type places let you smoke.

There is some talk of repealing the ban since there is no one to enforce it and people for the most part, are ignoring it.

I am not surprised. I spent a year in Watertown during the week before Christmas some time back. Two feet of snow kept falling every 8 hours or so, and all the rental car agency gave me to clear off the snow was a tiny, hand-size ice scraper.

I would borrow a broom from the hotel, clear off the snow and drive to Ft. Drum. 4 hours later they would announce that all civilians had to leave because of the snow. So I'd borrow another broom there and clear off the foot or so of snow and drive back to the hotel. Repeat for four more days.

The hour drive there from the airport was what we call a "white knuckle ride", as I followed the tail lights of the car in front of me, praying that its driver could tell where the road was. I sure couldn't. Can you say "lake effect"?
