Good afternoon everyone! I hope everyone has a good day today!

The weather is nice here in Florida. We get a nice breeze off the gulf. Yesterday we celebrated our 24th anniversary. My parents took us out to dinner. I'm so lucky to still have them around! Hope y'all are doing good and not getting too hot!

So here is the scoop:

I had my consult with the Electrophysiology cardiologist last week and my regular cardiologist yesterday. So after the two of them checked and rechecked my heart and did a battery of tests here is the result. Many people have afib and their heart handles it fine without going into heart failure. They just have to stay on blood thinners to avoid blood clots from forming and causing them a stroke. But other people, and I'm one of them, their hearts don't cope well with afib and with every new episode my heart would get weaker and put me in heart failure. It could be today, next week or next month but the next time my heart may not recover because heart failure is irreversible and shortens life by several years.

To avoid that I am having a surgical heart procedure on 9/4 called cardiac or catheter ablation (Atrial fibrillation ablation - Mayo Clinic). It takes 4-5 hours and I stay in the hospital overnight. The ablation has a 70% success rate but if mine fails they will have to do it again. I will have to stay on blood thinners for the rest of my life because there will always be a chance that I may go into afib despite of the ablation.

While I was in the hospital they also told me that another arrhythmia I have known about for about 10 years, called PAC (premature atrial contraction), has gotten worse and now I often have 6-8 seconds between beats which could cause me a heart attack. While I'm under anesthesia the doctor will evaluate my heart for the PAC and may implant a pacemaker to regulate it.

The alternative to the ablation is medication but my cardiologist doesn't advise going that route because those drugs are very dangerous and can cause permanent heart damage. He only advises them for really old people who wouldn't do well under anesthesia and are at the end of their life.

Fran is right, that's a lot to take in. Sounds like you're in good hands though. Your doc must be very good at explaining things to you because you seem to have a very good understanding of what's going on. Now you just have to wait for 2 weeks. That's the good news, that they're not in a huge rush to do this. The bad news is that you have to be nervous waiting for 2 weeks. I'll be sending good vibes your way.

@Bea-FL It appears the prayer chain has been activated. I will be adding you and hubs to my nightly prayers along with positive thoughts throughout the day.
Like the PPK, it's kind of magical. Those two seem to have the ability to fit everyone's hand, and shoot about where you point them, if you are like me, and point instead of using the sights.
The main feature of the model 1911 that I like is the angle of the handgrip. It's a more natural angle for point and shoot. I also added the Pachmayr wrap-around finger groove grips. I also added them to my service weapon which torqued off the armorer, as though I cared what he thought.

've developed new hobbies in the meantime. And, one of them is very expensive. I'm still paying back the money I borrowed to buy a RIA 1911. It's beautiful!

Whoot! Whoot! Now go shoot ... :D

Oh my Bea ... a lot going on there ... you'll be in my thoughts and prayers. Wishing you the best possible outcome.

Bea, according to your explanation, sounds like your doctor has a firm handle on this. Your explanation definitely is a lot to absorb, but knowing you are in excellent hands is, in itself, very encouraging.

You will be in my prayers for a successful and complete recovery!

Of course. It was made to be used; not worshiped.

That's quite a 1-2 punch to take in.

Isn't it nice when your doctor says you're not really old or at the end of your life? You've got a lot to look forward too. You and hubby made it through his procedure and he's done well. Now it's your turn to get a tune up! Best to you, you've got this. Sending positive thoughts and hugs.
You caught that! I liked it too!

Good morning!

One day a florist went to a barber for a haircut. After the cut, he asked about his bill, and the barber replied, 'I cannot accept money from you, I'm doing community service this week.'

The florist was pleased and left the shop.

When the barber went to open his shop the next morning, there was a 'thank you' card and a dozen roses waiting for him at his door.

Later, a cop comes in for a haircut, and when he tries to pay his bill, the barber again replied,
'I cannot accept money from you, I'm doing community service this week..'

The cop was happy and left the shop.

The next morning when the barber went to open up, there was a 'thank you' card and a dozen donuts waiting for him at his door.

Then a Congressman came in for a haircut, and when he went to pay his bill, the barber again replied, 'I cannot accept money from you. I'm doing community service this week.'

The Congressman was very happy and left the shop.

The next morning, when the barber went to open up, there were a dozen Congressmen lined up waiting for a free haircut.

And that, my friends, illustrates the fundamental difference between the citizens of our country and the politicians who run it.

Good morning. Looks like one of our grandsons is sick and our son is out of town. He has a doc appt this morning so we're going to meet our DIL there and take him home for the day until she gets home from work. I'm glad I spent yesterday making 1,300 ml of juice and 600 ml of base. We were just about out and now I don't have to drag out the equipment for several months. That could be a good thing because the last time we watched the little guy when he was sick he gave us the flu and we were out of commission for a week!

Good morning everyone :)

Janet here's hoping he gets well fast and you don't catch whatever he has.

Guess your hoping worked because a miracle happened! Beckett woke up feeling much better so we don't have to pick him up at the docs. We still could get a call from his school today if the fever comes back, but at least we don't have to rush to get out of here this morning.
