Good morning Loungers

We had storms move through our area last night. We lost power about 9:30 PM or so. I eventually hooked up a portable generator and hooked up our fridge plus a couple of other things (coffee pot & a fan). When we got power back on at 4:30 PM or so. I logged in to FB and found out that my granddaughter's trailer was rolled over by straight-line winds. They lost everything. She and her family were on the way to her mother's house so the whole family was fine. We have a few limbs down that I will take care of tomorrow.
so glad they weren't home and are safe.

The awful to hear. Good to hear they are all safe. Do they have a place to stay while they get their life back together?

I'm pretty sure the dude I know that had that done said it was one of those Laparoscopic jobs .. so he was in and out pretty quick .. positive Vibes going out .. :)

The problem seems to be getting the pancreas under control. They're hoping to be able to do the surgery on Friday. I think the way they remove the gall bladder these days is so much better than years ago. Recovery is way faster.

It will help that the youngest son is now 2-1/2 years old and won't have to be carried and tended to so much. I'm sure Miles will be a big help to her when she gets home.

A bit of humor to accompany my painting...;)

I think I need to leave sunflowers to Vincent...

I love your sunflower! You did a very nice job and I hope that even though you're not thrilled with it, you learned something from the exercise. You're just going to get better and better - and probably more critical of yourself. Fortunately we just get to enjoy the fruits of your labor!!

I have made the move to my daughters. I had to leave my cats with my gd and family and I was really worried about my old cat Tigger cause he's never been around dogs and they have two. His first reaction on meeting the German Shepard was to swat the dog and go hide. I was thrilled to get this pic the other day.

Male orange cats just seem to have the nicest personalities. Don't know why and I'm sure there's exceptions. I'm so sorry you couldn't take your fur babies with you, but isn't it nice to know that they're in good hands in familiar surroundings. And at least you do get to visit them!!

Oh no! Thank heavens they weren't home at the time! Prayers that they can get their lives back to normal quickly.

Good morning everyone! Well, we survived the sleep over with the boys. As I was laying with Miles quietly while he feel asleep in the "big bed", he softly said, "this was a really great day". Made my heart sing!! We had fun and enjoyed being able to spend time with the boys. Still, it was nice to come home last night and have a quiet evening to ourselves. There may be more time spent together when their Mom has her surgery. Hopefully the weather will cooperate and we can take them to a playground or maybe the Alpaca farm. They're old enough now that we can start taking them to fun places.

Yes, they have a place to stay. Both of their parents and family are in the area they live in. I wish I lived closer to help them out. I'm not really able to make the drive. I will pass on the moral support.

Although a trial is a little more complex than knowing the character of the accused, this does remind me of something else about animals.

People act like humans are better than animals. Some even seem to think that animals have no souls. But, the qualities that make us admire and respect a human are the qualities that animals have. Like loyalty, love, and bravery.

There's no shortage of animal videos/stories of animals that love and protect even animals of other species. Even with their very lives. That's part of our animal nature.

That reminds me (although on a very different scale) of the counter and table they used to have at Woolworth when I was little.

Those from the Eastern Seaboard may remember the Automat, a large, self service Food Dispensary .. (I hesitate to call it an actual Restaurant .. o_O)

As they get older, a whole new set of activities and joys present themselves....one of my granddaughters will be 13 in a couple of months, and she has amazing dialogue......not sure which stage I love most.......eh, love em all, as I'm sure you do, also!

Wow! My father used to visit H&H when he worked downtown Philly, and he would talk about it fondly. Brings back a lot of good memories!

That reminds me (although on a very different scale) of the counter and table they used to have at Woolworth when I was little.
One of my teachers (Sister Honorine) and I met there for lunch many many moons ago.......remember it with much love.

We probably will have a visitor this weekend, so we are prepping for his/her presence.
We're usually prepped, so there are just a few things we need to do.
We don't have a generator, as neighbors share! Neighbors who have, over the years, become close friends.

The biggest chore we have is to empty the lanai.....it is equivalent in size to our living room, so a lot of stuff will need to be compacted indoors..........

Who knows, we may skirt this system, but ya can never be too safe....I'm just grateful we have time to do all the necessary stuff...........
Oh, my vape arsenal is just about packed in the event of evac.;)

Children are like flowers. They start as a little bud that slowly opens to show a beautiful blossom. You just have to wait and watch to see what kind of flower they turn out to be. Quite amazing!

Although - Dorian - "Looks" as though it maybe head your way - Ya' never know, especially now since they widened the "Cone of Uncertainty" to included South Florida . . . Here's hoping that it by-passes "Us" and goes out to sea . . .

    tenor.gif

So - Just like "You" - although prepped to stay here (Management just installed Hurricane Windows a couple of months ago) - live in a flood plane (very close to the intercoastal) - I am ready to go at a moments notice . . . And - Thankfully not to a shelter, but to my best friends home in WPB (self contain and better then any shelter) . . . So - Clothes for at least a weeks stay all packe, Needed battery operated Electronics, Meds, and of course Vape Gear (all charged any ready) & 3-4 bottles of 30ml E-liquid and a couple of power banks Battery Charger too . . .

Well tropical storm Dorian is now hurricane Dorian and according to the predictions from the National Hurricane Center, as of now, it would be a category 1 over Florida. This weekend will be the tell.

Of course it may be back down to just heavy rain by the time it reaches us.

Thank you Janet...:) Every one I do is a learning experience...;) Much like when I sculpted, I never feel it's perfect, but strive to improve with each one I do.

LOL...I can't remember if it was at the Javits Center, NYC, or one of the hotel venues in NYC that I did shows in, but there was one of those automatons to grab a quick bite of something to eat and drink...a couple of decades ago...
