What a lovely story! I believe Adam sent Izzy to Kate. Is Izzy still around?

Funny you should say Adam sent Izzy to Kate. I've always said I thought Izzy was Adam reincarnated. She wanted a little dog she could take with her in her beach bike basket and Adam wanted her to have a dog for company while he was deployed. He never got the chance to look for a dog with her due to the accident, but she wanted to do everything they'd planned to do together so the search for a dog was on. She looked and looked and was so discouraged. Finally, on her way out of the last shelter she figured why not go down the wing with the larger dogs and BAM! There was Izzy. She called me and said, "I can't believe I'm getting a big dog!" They made eye contact and she just knew they had to be together. Izzy is sweet and loving and all legs, just like Adam. I don't know how she would have gotten through those early days if it weren't for Izzy. Izzy is 12 years old now and getting pretty gray. She's still so sweet, everybody loves Izzy!

Laurel is now 20 and doing well at Washington U, commutes to her classes and holds down a part-time job at Bed, Bath and Beyond .. Lilly is now coming on 16 and is, er, I guess, a normal 16 year old .. she was emancipated so no longer has to worry about her Father taking her away .. they both settled their inheritance and did not go crazy with a giant spending spree ..

Both of these Young Women nearly stand eye to eye with me, and I'm 6' .. neither express much interest in having a Boy Friend at this point and I think their height intimidates a lot of guys .. it's the guys loss, since they are both witty, smart, carry themselves with confidence and are, as a bonus, both knock outs in the looks department ..

All in all, they will be solid members of the Citizenry .. their Mom raised them well before her untimely passing ..

We still periodically enjoy each others company and, although I had very strong feelings toward not befriending them at the get go, since I'm no prime example of who you want to emulate, for some odd reason, they seem to still like me .. who knew .. ?? o_O

That's pretty amazing that the girls kept their heads after their mother died. I'd be willing to bet you had a little something to do with that. Don't sell yourself short. They see the man you are now and feel safe with you and obviously know wisdom when they see it.

This morning I received my last (for a while) order from fasttech. I think I am ready for the vape apocalypse.
I had an appointment with my pain med doctor yesterday and he wasn't happy about how my pain meds were working or rather not working. He gave me a script for a different pain med. Now it is a waiting period to see how things go and how my body will react. The pharmacy tech said my insurance would only pay for a 7 day supply since it was a new pain medication and that my doctor will have to write another script for the other 3 weeks at the end of the 7 days. I guess since it is a different pain med they want to only give a week's supply in case my body reacts badly to it. It is a morphine derivative and morphine is not agreeable with some folks.

I sure hope this new medication works for you. Actually I think it's a good idea to only fill the script for 1 week to start. In the past Mike has had scripts filled for a whole month and knew within a week if it wasn't going to work. So now he's got several bottles of meds he's not taking that we now have to figure out how to get rid of. Kate had knee surgery twice and both times got a months supply of Oxycontin that she only needed 1-2 pills. No wonder people get hooked on that stuff.

Check for a drop box at your pharmacy, of contact the local police for info on where you can responsibly dispose of excess meds.

Our HMO's pharmacy has one, very handy.

Or grind them up and add them to used cat littter, even the junkies won't touch that ;)

That is an amazing story. I'm so glad to hear Izzy found her.
Thanks, everyone for your thoughts on my health and the success of the new meds. I feel much better about this than the fentanyl he had me on for a while. I didn't know how "cloudy" my mind was until I was off of it for a week or so. Scary stuff!!!

It was pointed out to me that we have some very good, dare I say exceptional, photographers here, so... I'm giving a shout out to everybody...:)

I have two very large canvases here that need something wonderful for my attempts to paint.
Looking for... landscape...oceanscape...sunset...sunrise...any wonderful view of nature. Anything you would share with me, the higher the resolution the better, with your permission to use, would be so appreciated...
I will gladly give anyone my email addy if files are too large to post here.

At the moment I am kicking my own fanny for not saving more of the great pics that have been shared in the past...o_O So many would have been wonderful subjects for painting.

Also looking for pics for smaller paintings...cats....dogs...birds....wildlife critters. Will I be able to paint them all? Probably not, I'm slow, but hopefully as I gain more experience speed will increase somewhat...
A special thank you to the one who suggested this to me...

Has anyone else gotten their flu shot this year? If you did, did you feel is sick at all? About 9 hours after my shot I got a fever and then felt yucky all day yesterday. Mike got his shot yesterday afternoon and he just got up saying he's feeling yucky.
