I'll tell a short story ::

Back when I was deployed in the Army, I had a couple wisdom teeth start to come in wrong, and they really, really hurt .. well, the only option was an Army dentist, set up in a makeshift facility ..

He did not do a very good job with the novocaine and me being practically a kid at the time, was stupid enough to just go with it .. I kid you not, the Dentist had his knee braced against the chair as he removed one of those wisdom teeth .. it hurt so bad I about passed out, which may have been a blessing if I had ..

Thus, my complete and utter aversion to Dentistry to this very day .. this, I think, is where the saying "I would rather have a tooth pulled" in leu of some other unpleasant action that might be required ..

well, no you would not, at least not by an Army Dentist ..

I'm a cheap bast***. I need to get some teeth pulled, but I just keep putting it off.

Back in the old days, the Barber performed those duties .. get a haircut / get a tooth pulled .. 25 cents each .. o_O

When I was a kid the answer to a loose tooth that wouldn't fall out was a string tied to a doorknob. Now that would probably result in a lawsuit for abuse. World's gotten pretty crazy.

"You know you're a Redneck when you pull your own teeth .."

I knew a guy, years ago, that actually did pull his own teeth .. I'm pretty sure he used needle nose plyers .. he finally got down to just one tooth left, so I asked him "Warren, don't you figure it's time to get some dentures .. ??" .. to which he replied :: "I don't need dentures, I can still eat about anything .."

And, oddly, he still could .. it was just a circus act watching him gum it down ..

You might be a Vaper if...

You match your t-shirts to your drip tips,
You walk around squonking but you're not a goose,
You hear the word tank and picture your rta collection,
A trip to Tractor Supply is incomplete without pricing PG,
Seeing a cloud in the sky makes you think of Sub-Ohming.

...did you?

PA has new voting machines... Hopefully the redundancy will insure a proper accounting... You're given a blank 'ballot' to feed into the first machine, cast your votes and then it feeds it back with a printout that you then take to a second machine to be scanned and fed into a box. The biggest 'con'...little to no privacy when you are making your voting choices. While I am feisty enough to take on anyone who might question my choices, I can see where many others might feel uncomfortable or intimidated...:?:

And...for those of you in PA who didn't vote today...after today there will be no more straight ticket voting, which means...while it's always best to be 'informed', it will really be needed before you head to the polls in the future...

I was handed a blank ballet after I signed in. There were multiple stations setup for privacy and also long tables where you could just sit down and fill out the form if you didn't care about 'privacy. The kicker was ... there was just one machine to run the completed ballet through to record it. That created a small queue of everyone trying to submit their vote. Took about 30 seconds each to process it. If it were a 'big' election the queue would have been quite large and annoying to wait in line. They'd better get more of those machines for the presidential election.

I didn't know this was the last election to vote a straight ticket. On today's ticket you could vote a straight ticket but then select someone here and there from the other party, and that would override the candidate in that position for the 'ticket' you voted for. I thought that made sense for filling out the form faster if the majority of 'your candidates' were of the same party.

Overall I didn't like the new system ... reminded me of taking standardized tests back in H.S. and I hated that, so it brought back funky memories. That and it just seems a step backward going to sharpies and paper for voting. Let me stay home and vote from my smart phone.

We've been on paper ballots, and mail-in or drop off by election day, for many years. Love it. I can think and research in the comfort of my home, mark my ballot and cruise by the library for saving a stamp :) (Actually, they've also gone to postpaid, at least since 2018.)

After authentication, someone feeds it into the counting machine, but the State keeps the paper trail.

So, we dropped ours off last week :)

ah, doing it at home and dropping it off. Now that I could consider. Our ballot today was quite big/long with lots and lots of small circles to color in. Too tedious and time consuming. Almost voted a straight party just to get it done and out the door. For me just annoying having to color in those circles.

I guess that means - PA is now a No Party primaries state then . . .

I know I've probably mentioned this before :: I still have at least 90% of my actual teeth .. I do try and treat them with respect these days .. ..

LUCKY ! ! ! That "You" still have what Ya' do, especially with having the periodontal work done . . . I bet there is more then 1 person here (besides myself) that will tell Ya' to do whatever "You" possibly can do to KEEP those teeth you have left . . . SO BEEN THERE DONE THAT (after Heart Surgery had to have them all pulled - amazing that teeth & your heart are so connected) . . . All gone now . . . Just Sayin' . . .

(BTW: Just to make sure Ya' know - Not "Me". Close - but, not close enough . . .   )

Nothing like making voting more complex and long. This may keep voters away unless they make improvements..

I'm glad all my teeth are gone now. Dentures all the way. No more toothaches, root canals, abscesses, etc. :)

    Have a nice evening, Misfits.....and a better tomorrow!! :)

Wow! I guess they haven't standardized it throughout the state...o_O There was no option to fill out a printed ballot at my poll...just the blank that had to be inserted into the machine... As to privacy, there was a small triangle of red, white and blue fabric on each side that didn't even reach down to the area on which one voted. Anyone standing behind, or to either side of me would have been able to see every button I selected... It will be interesting to see what happens when there is a general election and more people showing up to vote.

I know they're trying to make an effort to secure the votes, but seems to me that all they have to do is hack the first machine....spitting out an erroneous print that's then scanned, and entered on the second machine...

We can send a man to the moon, we can build a nuclear submarine, we can transplant a persons heart, we can do surgery on a fetus in the womb. But we can't come up with a decent, secure voting system. Me thinks they don't want one that can't be manipulated from the inside, it's not the outside hackers I'm concerned about. It's the insiders I'm concerned about.

I'm just paranoid enough to worry about both inside and outside...;) Still, I'll continue to cast my votes and hope...

Actually, NO - Medicare does not generally include coverage for routine dental care such as dentures, cleanings, fillings, and extractions. However, certain dental emergencies might qualify.

Now, even with that said, there are a number of different - Dental Insurance plans for Seniors, Medicare Supplement plans and also there are a number of New Medicare Advantage plans (part C) available that include Dental Services and Dentures (here in FL we are inundated with a huge number of commercials on TV and "mail" for these). Since - Medicare has open enrollment October 15th until December 7th you can sign-up for one of these now. Here is a couple of links with more Medicare information:

You can also find out more information about the Medicare Supplement Plans (Medigap):

AND - Information about Medicare Advantage Plans here:

    5f043d68285e14912da7a1b450b64908.jpg

Thankfully - Although I was not on Medicare at the time - I was covered by "Disability Insurance" (Medicaid) for a Dental Emergency and went into the hospital to have them all extracted at once under anesthesia - well actually for the few I had left after my heart operation (No matter what the Dentist or I did they kept braking in half or off - over $2,000 out-of-pocket later  ). A year later I was finally able to get Dentures made - Dental School - took 8 months, but I got them.

    Hope this information helps . . . Just Sayin' . . . ;)
