I have friends from my years in the casinos, who went back to Nevada and Vegas. I've been frantically reaching out to see if all are well. My friend Tona, in particular, as I know what a big country music fan she is. Happy to say I made contact....she and her trike are presently in Carson City...

Tona and I became friends and co-workers in Reno, 40 years ago. We both moved to AC, opened and worked in the same casino there. She chose to return to Nevada....time and distance does not affect true friendship.

I've already posted on the BP that October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month...my friend is a survivor of that.

It is with great sadness I report that Tom Petty has passed .. I consider him to one of the greatest Songwriters of our time .. I am deeply, deeply saddened .. this on top of Las Vegas is just devastating news .. throw Puerto Rico on top of that and I'm ready to just crawl in a hole ..

Oh man that is one I wanted to see. Almost went when he did a concert in the Gorge but I had to work. He wasn't that old was he? Wilburys were great Petty, Dylan and Orbison some of my favorite favorites.

I'm just coming out of the hole I crawled into today. Just bad news information overload and I just tried to tune it all out today.

Yiddle - glad you made contact with your friend. Did you ever get a ride on her trike?

Willie - I'm with you. I've had an NRA card for a very long time and I 'carry', more and more as the times get funkier and funkier. I too would like to see a different stance from the NRA ... for a long time it's been don't give an inch or they'll take a mile. Certainly it's time/past time to rework that hard line approach.

Someone (don't remember who) said the FDA isn't allowed to get involved. Well, that's fine by me, they've screwed enough other things up.

R.I.P Tom Petty ... you'll be remembered and loved by 1000's and 1000's of your fans.

That was me, and I was wrong - it's the CDC that can't do any research on gun violence.
