Ok, outer space contacts, no, except for the shuttle and the Mir. On the higher vhf/uhf bands, some hams do EME, which is earth-moon-earth. They bounce their signals off of the moon and back down to earth and make contacts that way. I have not done it though.

There are people who send signals out into space, hoping for replies, but I haven't heard of anyone getting a reply yet.

BTW, I wouln't mention 'aliens' in Starry's presence. She has seen Independence Day, far too many times.
