I haven't checked mine for days...the top of the page says something like 900 Likes received  I don't pay much attention to it and click on it infrequently...I guess I should check more often :)

Jeeze! I have been "liking" your posts for nothing????? At least go read my "likes", so I won't feel like I hit that button in vain. :D

LOL.....if it weren't for the likes, I would not even post on ECF.

Just kidding.....when I first started posting there were no "likes" on ECF.....and I had never heard of them since I do not do facebook. At first, I thought they were kind of silly, but I have gotten used to them, and even "like" them....especially if I am posting a silly insult. That helps me understand that the recipient knew it was done in fun.

Lisa liked my peed pants picture last night...relieved me a little. Even tho I know she can be silly and I figured she would appreciate it.

I do not know if I should "like" this post....or not. :p I like to go back and look at my likes if we have had a funny evening....it is a quick way of reliving some of the fun without actually reading all the posts. Or maybe I am just narcissistic.

I didn't understand the "Likes" when I joined ECF. I was even surprised when I first clicked on the notifications box :) It doesn't upset me if I don't get "Likes" but I do hope that I'm not offensive, so they are a good indicator of that :) With all of that said, they are like little warm fuzzy validations, especially on a bad day :D

That peed-pants pic was hilarious, BTW

I never want to be offensive either.....but I do love insult humor done in fun. That is why I like this thread....I can be offensive without offending since everyone here knows me....and most give it right back, which I love. :) In two years of posting on the beach, I have only offended one person, and he was defensive to me and to others on this thread....he was asked not to post here again for that reason. And my post that offended him was about as silly as it could be, but he took it personally. He could dish it out, but not take it....grumpy old fart!

Bet I know who that was, probably the same one that PM'ed me and told me to stay off this thread. :grr:

You are probably right....he jumped Sun once and he jumped Jag on another thread. He was one of the reasons Jag started the beach thread...then he showed up and started posting here. He used to be everywhere, but I try not to go where he is because I do not like to be wary of what I post.

I have noticed posters on other threads referring to him as the forum "police".

It's almost impossible to escape him
He's the only person on ECF I've ever been the least bit "intentionally" rude to ... told him to "Go Away"!!!

    Good morning Beach :)

FWIW, my grandfather took me out (even before I had a learner's permit) driving just to teach me in the snow and ice. He drove me to a parking lot that was huge and open at a local stadium. He taught me how to do everything, including egging me into slides so that I could learn how to correct them. It was a huge amount of fun, completely educational, and we burned a couple tanks of gas doing it. I don't know if we could have gotten away with that these days since that was probably 3 decades ago, but I would recommend it if you can arrange something like that.

    You're welcome :D

I took some art classes in college. I once asked one of my professors about the possibility of earning a living, and he was very frank about the life of a studio artist. I'm still grateful that he told me the truth, because it really can be difficult. That professor basically said that a "professional" has to have 2 kinds of art....one is the "prostitution" art that pays the bills, and the other is the personal art that is your true expression. Additionally, PBS ran an expose recently that discussed the life of a studio artist these days. It made me glad that I didn't have to struggle trying to make it in the artworld these days. I would implode trying to "sell" my own personal work to dealers and galleries

DH took both the kids to an empty parking lot and did that. DD is a bit leery of driving in snow and ice but is very capable of doing it. DS loves the play so he still finds someplace to do just that.

    Good morning Beach :)

Way cool! I've always wanted to paint watercolors but have never attempted it... painting of any kind for that matter, other than the walls of my home. I took a jewelry making class in HS and really wanted to go apprentice with a cousin who does it for a living, but my father would not allow it. I cannot believe she doesn't sell online! She doesn't even keep her fb page updated but here is a sample of her work:

She is good! And should try to sell it online.
