Now CUT THAT OUT!
I'm bayack.
Seems my battery is weak. It's a little over 4 years old and really needs to be replaced... and has no trade-in value because of the one I bought last time.

The battery is holding charge OK, and the charging system is good, but the Starter is dropping the Voltage down to 7.8V when cranking, and that's not good. The battery should be able to maintain at least 11.2V during cranking, according to the Tech at Sears. He was very thorough and knowledgeable, and explained it all quite well (most of it I knew, but some I didn't). He explained that because I don't drive much and the car sits a lot, the things that stay on all the time, like clocks and a bunch of other things, tend to drain the battery. I knew that, but I didn't know the effect they have on an older battery, depleting the "surface" charge and ultimately causing damage to the cell plates inside.
So until I can get a new battery, I'm going to
buy and use a Battery Maintainer, which will charge as needed and turn off, then monitor the battery's charge status and turn on the charging again if it drops below a certain point. These things are a lot cheaper than a new battery and my charger doesn't have the Maintenance feature, so that's what I'll have to do for a while.
I have a list of other things to get done today, so I'll be doing that and checking in now and then.
