Dropping out of school to help the family used to be so common.....created a work ethic that no amount of schooling can produce. And I think lots of the old timers are smarter....they learned about things in life that really matter. The stuff mandated in today's schools....the real learning is not there. Mostly because the government has poked its nose in. :glare:

So true! They may not be able to tell you a calculation from algebra or calculus… but they can 'use' that info to build a house.

LOL.....and remember having to adjust the horizontal and vertical buttons....the tv pictures used to roll, and would need to be adjusted. :)

And when you couldn't get it to stop. Sitting there during the slow roll and trying to keep up with the show.

Wow…. we really were living like cavemen!!

Hubs buys "healthy" tater tots  I've never looked at the package to see what makes them 'healthier'. I just know they must be, or he wouldn't buy them :glare: So, the other day our son made himself a HUGE BOWL of them (I bet it was at least 4 servings) and I fussed at him about how many he made. He said "yeah, but these are the healthy ones that dad buys" Hubs would have had an absolute fit if he had seen how many he fixed. Of course, I didn't rat him out :D

I can honestly say I have never heard of "healthy tater tots". But there are far worse unhealthy foods. Did son eat them all? :) I only complain if they take a huge serving, and then I find half of it in the garbage. :glare:

Yep....tv was such a novelty, that we watched it anyway....no matter what the picture quality was. I remember my first hubs and I buying a COLOR tv in the late 60s.....none of our friends or family had one. We were so proud of it......even tho the colors were mostly red, blue, or green.

The first colors were a riot compared to now. Then there was that thing you could put on your screen to make colors. And we were happy with it.

That was never a problem when son lived here.

It was a problem after he moved out. Took a long time to get where I made just enough for me and DH.

I still make too much.....my hubs is always saying, put more meat in, or add a couple of more potatoes. Then he yaps at me because of all the bowls sitting in our refrigerator. I love that he helps in the kitchen....but sometimes, I just want to scream...when he makes mashed potatoes, which he loves, he always cooks 6 or 7 potatoes.....and then we have a bunch leftover. You can only eat so many potato pancakes.

I do not know what that is...(is that like Frogger?).....but I know I could not play it. The only video game I have ever been able to play was Duck Hunt....found out I have a pretty good eye for shooting. My kids always laugh when I try to play a video game.....I always get killed in the first few seconds.

I just showed son the atari gif and talked to him about how we had to change the channel and antenna, and that Atari was our video game. He said "I know". I said "how do you know… you weren't there"

He said "you weren't in World War II but you know some of the history. I am familiar with this media" :?:
