There is a lag Sea but I don't think it takes that long. I've never timed it though.

Every once in a while there's a bit of a lag. Usually not.
sometimes there is a really pregnant pause. That's where most of my double posts have happened. When it seems stalled, I copy my post, prepared to paste if necessary, and wait to make sure it didn't go through before doing so.

It depends on a number of things and what's on the page when you post, to display all the graphics. I think I'm between 2 - 7 seconds.

Well shucks, that's what I was afraid of. I don't like this WebRoot I'm using. Apparently I had spyware slowing me down. Maybe a trojan horse or two. irritating.

You're right, JaG ... it's the graphics that are slowin me to turtle's pace.
ETA: And my puter is 10 mos old - I've got speed and terrabytes in memory. OK, thanks everyone, I was worried that I would have to get the Geek Squad to work it over again.

Some posts take < 1 sec, instant, but then I have to F5 to see any other posts. It doesn't refresh the page. When it does refresh, your puter has to go to EVERY site where a graphic is posted here and retrieve it...thus slowdown. Some servers could be busy and you'll sit and wait and wait...
Yep, I had a 10 yr old computer I loved that just started freezing up so had to go out and get a new one. I asked the clerk how many gigs of memory I could get. he just laughed and said they were up to terrabytes now. I'm a happy little puppy with my new computer.
I'm only running XP on 1 GB of memory, old puter maxed out. 
At least 2 GB would have been much faster. I don't do anything fancy, waiting for another year or two to upgrade to new PC.

My former neighbor was a movie watcher. He had movies on his puter b4 they were even in theatres. He had a RadioShak HD he stored them on - over 500 movies!

I think you're talking about storage (hard drive), which is up to terabytes now.
When people say memory, aka RAM, it's still limited to gigabytes. If you could find a PC that holds terabytes of memory/RAM, the RAM alone would cost more than your entire PC.

Not anymore, NCC. Best Buys don sell systems - they sell CPUs; then you add on what you need like a keyboard or monitor or whatever - more affordable that way.
