I think I understand the confusion now. The salesman must've been talking about hard drive storage.
My former neighbor was a movie watcher. He had movies on his puter b4 they were even in theatres. He had a RadioShak HD he stored them on - over 500 movies!
For real JaG? I dint know that!

Likely more than your house, unless you've got a mansion. If you could find a PC that holds terabytes of memory/RAM, the RAM alone would cost more than your entire PC.![]()
hard drive space ... not RAM.okay, I just check, and I have one TB of memory. My computer told me
Well, yes, you can get terrabytes. But, that computer will cost as much as a house.
IDK, the clerk told me it would be hard to run out of storage.
If you go to the My Computer icon on your desktop, right click on it, and select properties from the drop down menu, you should see your RAM displayed (among other things)
At least, that's the way it works in WinXP. I don't have 7.
Yes, that's not only a credible number, but a very generous amount of RAM.It dint show me, so i went to my computer. Does 6.00 GB sound right?
That's right! Storage, but not the same as memory in puter speak.
Just as a human brain does thinking and memory in different parts of the brain, the puter does too. The "thinking" part of it is called memory, aka Random Access Memory (RAM). The actual "memory" or storage part of it is the hard drive generally. Confusing, I know.
As of now, the thinking/memory part of it is still limited to gigabytes, while the memory/storage part of it is up terabytes and more.
ROM (Read Only Memory) is usually faster than RAM (IIRC). It is not volatile and not writeable. Instructions for some computer specific hardware may be stored in ROM, although I think this is less common than in years past.I know what RAM and ROM is, but i thought a lot of ROM made the RAM run faster. Izzat wrong?

I'm sorry Sea. I should've understood.

What I mean is if you have a lot of RAM, your computer should run faster, right?

Actually, I'll be washing my car tomorrow. Got a date with the doctor on Moanday.Ha ha, NCC. You got a free car wash today driving in the storm. I take my car out for a short drive when it is really coming down furiously hard.
I haven't checked the price of RAM today. But, keep in mind, that $30K is just for the RAM. A computer which will utilize that much memory is quite another matter. If there's a PC that could fit them, they're getting cheaper now, 4 GB for $30 or so. Since 1 TB is 1,000 GB, $30 x 1,000 = $30,000. No need for a mansion.![]()

Here's one which comes with 1/83rd of a terrabyte. It will support twice that much, or 1/42nd of a terrabyte ... it is Maxed out at that point.
