I used to work downtown, and I've walked most of the town and toured many galleries during lunch times. I worked in a building that had a main trolley stop, so I could really get around during lunch hours.

Forum is running slowly today for me.

Those trolleys are great! I rode them in SF. You were lucky to have all that culture for your lunch hour. :)

You rode them in SF? That must have been very interesting! I've never been to SF as an adult - being a country girl, it intimidated me - got lost one time driving thru the outskirts on the way to Oregon.

A lot of us walked the fitness path on the beach in SD just so we could go by the naval admin bldgs. All those sailors, LOL!

I lived around SF for 20 years and worked downtown Financial District. Took those a few times, but mostly BART (underground), ferries and buses...planes, trains an automobiles. :D I never felt comfortable with those trolley brakes, steel wheels on steel tracks...how's that supposed to stop on a big slope? :?:

Sailors? So they brought the chocolate!!

Well some of the pictures I've seen of the SF hills, I would agree. I dint know SF had a BART. I've heard the word BART, but I never connected it with SF.

LOL, those sailors always offered a conversation, but they were on the clock.;):D

BART = Bay Area Rapid Transit, like subway in NY, which I rode a lot too. It goes from the SF airport to SF to Oakland and even Hayward in the East Bay. In Washington DC, it's called Metro, again I've sampled. I'm a mole!

Hmm....I got to get me a sailor's outfit!! :D

I'm doing pleasure reading today. I've never studied chakras since I thought it was where I never venture - the woowoo mystic world. But come to find out, they're not that at all. They're part of the natural energy systems of the body - or so far, that's what I gather from what I'm reading.

There's that "woowoo" again. Love it!

I don't know what you're reading, but I had a laugh reading this this moring...note: some adult humor therein.

JaG, I saw your earlier post about getting more physical to induce quicker and more restful sleep. When I quit smoking, I had terrible insomnia for about 6 weeks. Whenever I can't sleep, I just tell myself that I don't need to really sleep, that I just need to rest. That makes me take the edge off the frustration enough to relax and actually sleep, lol.

I also have a game I play ... I am on the beach where I can see an island in the distance. I decide I'm going to move to that island and build the house of my dreams. Not even knowing how to use a saw or hammer properly, I take either Chuck Norris or Mel Gibson along with me to help in the little row boat full of tools. The trip to the island with the lapping water against the boat always spoils my fun, though, since I always fall asleep on the trip over.

That's very interesting. I heard that the more some try to sleep, the harder it gets. My brain works every waking minute, so it's hard to turn it off. But I guess I could tell myself to relax and empty the mind enough to fall asleep...unless there's some major event impending.

Hahahaha...you could take anyone you want and build that house on any island in your imagination. Hunky contractors or not, maybe you just needed the sound of the waves? :D

Hell no. I don't pay taxes on my free time now ... why would I pay taxes on them if I had more of them?

But you do! There are taxes on electricity, water, telephone (even VoIP phone service), gasoline, property, taxes on health insurance and so on and so on. If your money is making interest or dividends, more taxes there...but that's another good topic for the Outside as it were. :)

What works better for me to get into a low delta sleep (1/2-4 Hz) is when I relax before I go to sleep. First I relax my toes, then my ankles, then my knees, etc. If I dream, then I'm only in a theta sleep (4-8 Hz), and I wake up to any little noise. If I can get to theta, I can sleep dreamless and through branches hitting the house and other outside noise. In fact, even if I have to get up for a nature call, then I can always get back to sleep easily. Reading or running energy always gets me into an alpha state, so it's easier from there for me. Different strokes for different folks, though.
