Wrong. The auto batteries are NOT sealed. The juice dripped into an atty will eventually get to the battery compartment and gums up the sensor switch which activates the battery. There have only been about 1000+ posts on ECF alone supporting this problem.
I just wanted to put 1 post saying I have been direct dripping since 2009 in M401 auto batt and PT w/o a single flooding related problem.
I have flushed gunk out of M40x batt and PT several times w/ a few drops PGA.
I dropped M401 in water for couple seconds and it still worked.
My direct dripped M401 PT must have a thousand miles on it and its still ticking.
On a side note...I would like to mention that I experienced batt failure due to direct dripping on a 2008 model RN-4081.
I continued to direct drip RN-4081 w/ tip up and had still had good success.
I direct dripped 510 auto batt for months till batt started getting weak; kept tip up..
When carefully direct dripping auto RN-4081 and auto 510 I had good success.
I have flooded M40x auto batt countless times and still ticking..
