That's a good plan.

It's also what I do.

Trying to force your nic down usually leads to problems.

The thing I've noticed is that your body will tell you when you're ready to drop lower. You'll start to get mild over-nic symptoms. Eventually, you'll just be ready and you will know it.

The main thing is to just keep vaping.

This is how I've gone from 24mg down to 4 1/2.

24 to 18 to 9 to 4 1/2. Just out of the blue I started getting sick feeling from the nicotine. Why I decided to half it, who knows, but it worked. I will make my next batch 4mg just to even it up...lol. The most recent drop was just a couple of weeks ago. Now I've gone from having enough nic base for 18yrs to having enough for 36yrs. WIN-WIN!

Keep in mind that this is over a period of 5yrs. I only did the 24mg for the first month or two. I vape unflavored and make my batches 1000ml at a time.

Started with 12mg, dropped to 6 and then down to 3. I don't DIY juice and found at 3mg I was going thru way too much. Bumped it back up to 6 and am happy.

I guess it's dependent on each person and how they feel about how much and how often you have to vape!! Good luck with dropping your level, and like a few have mentioned earlier, you can always go back to the level you were on before or just have a tank with a bump to get you through!

Funny how different people are. Even in this short thread.
It sure is.

As for me, I was vaping 12mg strength for the first 6 years.
Not only did I not have any desire to lower that, but I was adamant that I would not do so.

I have always believed that nicotine is good for you in moderation.
It improves memory, concentration, and attention.
It may very well help prevent Alzheimers and Parkinsons.

It also has the extremely unusual properties of being both a stimulant and a depressant...
  • It can help give you a boost when you need a little kick start
  • It can help relax you when you're stressed

But then it happened...

My health insurance through work decided to extort $50/month from nicotine users.
And so one day I just stopped using nicotine completely.
That was about 6 months ago.

I'm hoping to retire in a year or two at most...
And at that time I fully intend to go right back to using nicotine again.

If I drop any lower, I'll have a 100yr. supply
Well, I had a ten year supply when I stopped using nicotine.
Now my supply is pretty much infinite.

I started at 36mg and it took every drop of that for me in the beginning. Over about a year and a half I gradually weaned my self down to zero nic and zero nic felt, well....pretty awful. I was ok in the weaning down phase but after I was on 0mg things changed. I started becoming sluggish and just never felt right. It was a slow process mind you, probably over a year before I really started noticing the change in me. I ended up going to the Dr. for something unrelated and found out my thyroid wasn't working anymore. Well, there you have it. That's why I feel so out of sorts. Nope, not it. Got my thyroid straightened out and although I felt a bit better I still wasn't "me". I chalked it up to getting older and went on with life, still vaping 0nic.

A few months later a friend gave me a bottle of 6mg juice she had picked up on accident. It was much too low a strength for her so she handed it to me. I really wanted to try the flavor so I started vaping it. It was absolutely unreal the difference it made in how I felt after just a day of vaping nic. It was like my brain woke up and I could function normally again.

So, nic is back in my life for good. I vape around 9mg now and feel all the better for it. That's not to say you'd have the same experience. People go to zero nic around here pretty consistently without issue. If I ever ended up in the same situation DC2 is in I'm afraid I'd just have to bite the bullet and pay the increase.

Thank you for sharing your story!
I'm slowly going to lower it and see what happens.

Like house mouse says, I started at 30 and needed all of it. The shop stopped carrying (or making) it, went to 24. Switched to a nautilus from ego style, more vapor so I only needed 20. Went to 18 after I got an Ego One, switched to a Subtank Mini and started DIY, now 16 makes me happy. Currently experimenting with 14 but find myself craving/anxious, so I may cruise with 16 for a bit longer. Or 15. Either way, I'm having fun making lots of juice and there's no pressure. Cut my intake in half in 16 months and it feels awesome being off the cigs. I realized I'm pushing myself for the 14 a bit so I may back off, but I'll get there.

Not to worry house mouse.

Once the FDA takes care of the business of stamping out "effective" forms of vaping...
Big Pharma will be free to roll out their "approved" nicotine-based drugs...

I'm sure they'll have a cure for what ails you.
And you can rest comfortably knowing their solutions will be FDA-approved!

You might be on to something there. I can get a 3 month supply of their "approved" nic based drug for a $20 co-pay vs $50 a month in increased insurance premiums. Then once I return from the pharmacy I can throw their drug in the trash(minus a bottle with a few pills rattling around in it to prove to the insurance warden at work why I test positive) and keep on vaping.
