That's because it DEPENDS ON THE WIRE GAUGE.

(and whether its dual coil or single coil - if you are running 1.2 ohm single then you can run 0.6 dual with good wicking)

I should have added that for .8-.9Ω kayfun builds for a mech, that I use 26ga wire, 8 wraps at 2.2mm

For me, 8 turns of 28ga Kathal yields a 1.3 ohm coil on a coil winder rod that measures 1.83mm. Hobby Lobby and Amazon sell the Artistic Coil Winder for around $10 to $11. The winder rod is about 8 inches long and I'm thinking about winding multiple coils at once, leaving sufficient leg length between each and snipping them apart for a quick change when needed.

10-11 watts is about the highest you can run a KayFun without running into issues. Well a 1.5 ohm coil works out to 10 watts at 3.87v. So that's a good place to start when using a mechanical PV.

I actually prefer a 1.25 ohm coil using a Kick -2 set at 10 watts in my mechanical. IMO the KayFun definitely benefits from regulated voltage/wattage.

But, I agree, why would I want to hunt over an ugly dog

ok, just read the whole post. For someone that will be using a VV for the first time ever, what should I set or start to set the Voltage until I find my sweet spot on the Provari on the following Ohm Readings, this will be on 3 Kayfun lite+ v2; 1.2, 1.4 and 1.7 ohms. Already have one kayfun built at 1.7 with 30 gauge kanthal and organic cotton from walgreens. Also, I don't want to over do the coil and I guess burn it out or blow it.

Sounds good; try 3.7 volts and adjust from there I'd think.

I'm still experimenting and all 3 of my KFL/Russian clones have different air flow (port and chimney I.D. & length).
.8 to 1.2 on a mech with rayon wick

Above 1.4 and my drag time gets too long, not enough density.

Right now I'm running a .6mmx.1mm flat dual parallel single coil around 6 wraps and a .9mmx.1mm flat with 5 wraps.

Too many fracking variables. Thank goodness there is a huge soft spot for a good vape. But when it's great, I can't help but think, damn why can't I get this all the time.

I'm changing my cotton wick and dry burning daily to keep the vape quality up. I've gotten pretty good at estimating how much cotton to peel off a puff to make the right size wick that will pull back and forth with light drag.

I could go several days without doing that, but the fresh clean taste of a clean coil and a new wick can't be beat.

10 or 11 watts is max for a kayfun without issues? I don't think so. Everyone is different in their power levels and I'm not one to say the higher the wattage the better because it's personal preference. Although the kayfun imo is well suited for 10 to 12 watts, if done correctly it can handle more then twice that with no problems. It just takes a better build to obtain it. In the end there is not that big of a difference so a 1.3ish coil for the kayfun with 28g is the best for most.

I gotta admit, it ticks me off when certain people make blanket statements about a device, due to their obviously LIMITED experience. Even before I modded my kayfun or ran rayon, I could vape at .8 ohms no problem. Since I drilled out my center post and switched to rayon, .6 - .7 is my sweet spot and this thing blows CLOUDS with huge flavor. I could go lower but I don't want it much warmer.

I honestly feel sorry for people running a kayfun at like 1.4 on a mech, that think that's just the "best" the kayfun can do. Guys like brianc11111 show the kayfun is capable of MUCH more than the average joe thinks is possible.

Brian, I've been meaning to ask you how you think your modded kayfun compares to your Foggers, which are the current "kings" of RTA's, where vapor production is concerned. Am I missing out?
