The lung scarring drives me nuts. There's about a million reasons that cause it.
I'm in a every three months MRI cycle because of new scarring that appeared in my once a year scan. They basically watch to see if it gets bigger or not. Very nerve racking. I waited too long to dump cigarettes. Emphysema, but not bad enough to be on oxygen. Huge improvement from switching to vaping three years ago. Obviously it will never go away, but so far it's stabilized.

40+ years 2pk/day and quit smoking & started vaping full time 2012. 2019 Apr. health issues resulted in stage-4 Lung Cancer from the 40+ years smoking. I've vaped through out since 2012 and between all my scans (CT,PET,MRI,etc.), I'm happy to say that my lungs are clear per my Doc. I'll find out if I'm in remission at the end of this month. No indications that vaping is an issue and my Doc is aware.

For what it's worth, I'll say a prayer for you.

I was a two pack a day smoker until 9 yrs ago. I started when I was in the army, 1973-1976. 9 yrs ago I found vaping. Chest xrays got better and better until 1 yr ago, when my GP ordered a chest scan. 3 nodules, 2 on right lung, 1 on left lung. Just did a year followup a few days ago. There's a new 8mm nodule on the right lung. Doc is setting up an appt with a pulmonologist. Should hear on monday or tuesday as to when appt is setup.

I'm not saying it has anything to do with vaping. Just don't know. Will follow up with ya'll once I know more. Doctor did say beyond that, lungs are clear, and he doesn't believe it's cancer.

The thing about cancer is that it takes (or can take) years to begin in full..

"Five years after quitting, the risk of developing lung cancer in former heavy smokers dropped by 39 percent compared to current smokers, and continued to fall as time went on. Yet, even 25 years after quitting, their lung-cancer risk remained over threefold higher compared to people who had never smoked." https://news.vumc.org/2018/05/29/ne...-substantially-within-five-years-of-quitting/

I developed pre-cancer cells in my throat while I was a smoker (doc said my entire throat was completely covered) yet even now, 14 years later, it still hasn't turned into full blown cancer. On the flip side, if it ever does at some future point, turn into cancer, then it was still smoking that was the underlying cause, even though I quit smoking 7 years ago...

Just because you quit smoking doesn't mean your necessarily in the clear for some of the risks... Subjecting your body for decades to carcinogens takes a toll.

I wish you the best and will be praying for you ❤️

In fact, often times cancer will show up after one has quit smoking. There's something in tobacco smoke that inhibits the growth of cancer cells after they have developed, but the cancer is there, hidden. Once the smoker stops smoking, the cancer starts growing. It's known as the smoker's dilemma. Stop smoking and prevent a cancer from developing or keeping smoking to stop the cancer that's there from growing.

    Kinda like the Deeming Regs..

No joke about cancer (whatever type) though. I've lost several family members and friends because of it. Again, best of luck to ya @Big Mac.

Haven't met a doctor yet who's aware of any benefits or info beyond the bad rep vaping was given by the dishonest media. I do have some anomaly present in recent scans, the cause of which has yet to be determined, but I do not believe it will be attributed to my vaping... he said as his screen was briefly obscured by a thick cloud of vapor.
