So I've been cigarette free for about two weeks now thanks to my Vapor pen. Yay!

Recently I've started coughing.. Almost a dry cough for a few days. Also my tongue is feeling funny. Then this lead me to getting sick so I stopped vaping till today now that I'm feeling better. Is this normal when quitting smoking? Are my lungs clearing themselves?

It takes more than two weeks for you lungs to begin preparing themselves, six weeks rings a bell, but the process may have started for you.
I've quit a few ways over the years, and usually it's the opposite, I get overly productive coughs, you know, like hacking up a lung type coughs!!
Are you drinking plenty of fluids(mostly water)? vaping can be dehydrating.

hmm the cough sounds like a normal symptom when you quit smoking, but ive never heard of the tongue feeling funny.. was it like a tickling feeling or more like an allergic reaction? I should note that I smoked for 5-6 years and when I quit months ago, I never coughed stuff up or coughed in general (although I never really coughed a lot when I was smoking either). Ive had my tounge swell up a couple times when I was younger due to allergic reactions so maybe your allergic to vg/pg?

edit: good point to the poster above me, could be dehydration on the tongue part if your not drinking enough...

I was never a heavy smoker. I'm 33 now, started smoking when I was 17 and only smoked a pack or two a week.

As for my tongue, it's more that it feels kinda fuzzy. Like I can feel the taste buds on it if that makes sense. I drink water constantly so I don't think that's an issue.

I started smoking at 11 and did it for 59 years. I didn't hit the wall until my 6th month vaping and I'll never forget it. I was cough and wheeze-free lung inhaling for the first six months and absolutely joyous. I had a herniated disk in my neck I used to cough so hard from smoking. Then the part of "healing" not often discussed started. My bronchial tubes and lung lining started shrinking back to normal non-smoker size and talk about sensitive! I was bringing up mucous from so deep down in my lungs I never knew they went that deep. I had to quit inhaling vape because of it and have learned that I actually prefer a shallow or no lung inhale more than I did inhaling vape or smoke deeply.

Edit: BTW, none of this is due to vaping. If you go to smoking cessation forums, you'll see that this is what long-time smokers quitting go through and it does usually hit the hardest at about 6 months.

Ah - I was wondering what was going on! After almost 40years of smoking, I blamed this new, occasional but unnerving cough first on Boba's Bounty, and then on various custards....but it wasn't consistent. I guess I'm not dying after all.......:vapor::toast::vapor: (Must get some Boba's again LOL)

And I thought I was having it tough with only 30 years of smoking. At first I was dry coughing, but as my lungs started clearing out and healing I coughed up all kinds of nasty stuff. I don't cough from vaping anymore but I'll still get hard coughing if it's really cold and I inhale through my mouth.

Hmm, interesting stuff I guess I still have to look forward to. No coughing at all so far at 2 weeks no cigs. Did go through nonstop nose blowing for about a week. Sinuses still don't feel quite right. Exhale through nose feels normal, inhale (without vaping, just inhaling) feels tingly. OP, drink water and then more water and then keep drinking more. Super important.

I began coughing up junk 2 weeks into vaping and it continued for approximately 2 months on and off. Around 6 months I started coughing again, it lasted about 5 days. I haven't had another bout of it since. I also had the tongue issue during my first 2 weeks and it could very well have been lack of hydration but I believe my taste buds were also trying to regenerate as well cuz' my taste was starting to change during that time. Sigh, I'm so glad I don't smoke anymore! No more crud! Just Happy Vaping!! :vapor:

I've smoked for 40+ years, and just started the 4th of January Vaping. My hubby started hawking up gobs of stuff within about a week! I coughed up a little, but now what I have is a weird "clog" at the top of my chest where I am constantly having to clear my throat! It's annoying, but not smoking for 3 weeks I expect to have a few issues. WE started Vaping while trying to battle the flu! Made me feel better giving up the analogs, and within the first week actually felt human! Drinking water or any fluids helps! Just trying to get rid of what ever this stuff is that's causing the clog, is driving me crazy!

Within 48 hours those amazing lil' cilia start to regenerate. After decades of being covered in tar and paralyzed by the tobacco chems (fact) I was AMAZED to hear they could come back to life.
It's all a very personal program but my Dr's smoking cessation expert told me to immediately begin some deep breathing exercises. BEST cessation expert I've ever spoken with- very opened minded and congratulatory. I strongly recommend that all new vapers make an appointment with their GP regardless of their feedback.

Great posts, I was coughing for about 2 week into vaping and I personally thought it was the vape. It is all cleared up now at 2 months of not smoking cigs. Right now its still hard to tell if the lungs are healing, I sure hope so. Is there any way to tell the lungs are getting better other than choking up the lugies? Is there any way to test it without running a 5k? Just wondering
