Interesting.

Just saw this at Discount Vapers.

NOTICE: From what I have been told Kanger is now moving to ONE coil type, the longer stem ProTank coil and selling them for both the evod and protank as one coil.

https://store-549f5.mybigcommerce.com/evodcoils/

if this is old news, just disregard.

It hasn't killed me yet and I've been doing building coils for quite some time now ... of course now that I've said that ... Kaboom! :)

Just kidding! It's not bad at all and imho, rda's are the place to start rather than rba's which can be tricky to get working properly.
Well, now that I actually have an RDA, it doesn't seem like rocket surgery, but it will require my "extra strong" readers, and probably more patience than I have. If I do it, I'm sure it will be just because I'm a tightwad & stubborn. But another of daddy's expressions is "if it does what you want to do, it's worth every penny". Seeing how long they last, at less than 10 bucks a pop, I'm going to have to be really good at rebuilding PDQ for it to be worth it.

Lol! I'm excited! Hopefully nothing goes boom!! But I think I should be able to test the builds on my Provari & from what I understand it won't fire if something's wrong.
No it won't. I can attest to that. My first attempt was a no go. Attempt #2, metered/registered 1.2

ETA: I think the no go showed an AO on the display.

That's right Chim, your Provari won't fire if you accidentally build a sub-ohm coil so you should be fine. It also has short circuit protection should the coil short out for some reason (not very likely but not impossible either).

Yes readers. That wire is just about as fine as human hair. Not quite, but not too far off either. I have a lighted magnifier, thankfully. It's a lifesaver.

Well if you want, whenever you are ready, GG, you and I could meet somewhere for coffee and one or both of us could help you build one. I'm sure you could do it on your own too, but it would give us an excuse to have a local vape meet! :)

See, one "no go" & I'm done. I'm gonna wrap it to look exactly like what's on there now, & if it fires & tastes exactly the same, I'm golden. If not, the whole shebang is going in the GG pile.

Thanks Lori & Haze! Does anyone own a mechanical? I keep thinking about it but then I snap back out of it & think its too much. But some are soooo pretty!

You should try it Charm! I don't know how it'll work out but ill give it a shot! Gotta check all of the boxes on your vaping bucket list! Lol

Oh oh oh Haze! Just thought of how I could repay you & your kindness with the wire;) get your mind out the gutter everyone! I was thinking more along the lines of sending you some of this silica when it arrives:D

I wear glasses. More for reading than for distance. But I need the magnifier and the glasses for that.

I still don't wear sunglasses half the time. I know I should.

Do the larger RBA's have a larger are in which the coil is placed, or do they still make you squeeze it in to that tiny little spot?

They are coiled significantly different and often with different materials, i.e. stainless steel mesh, but yes, they do have a larger area to work in although it's still cramped especially if you have any kind of hand size.

They are pretty. I keep eyeing them too, but then reality hits me and I remember that I need the safety features.

Coffee'sazz! We're meeting at the Varsity! That has already been decided, although maybe you weren't consulted. I hope that works for you, with your digestive issues and all.:D
I've actually got a pretty good idea what to do, it just whether I WANT to or not. Be very glad you're not here to witness the internal debate.

Good to know, thank you. My hands are small, but I'm really not into tedious. The evod rebuild wasn't bad, the WyVern, I think is close to the same size, but honestly, if I can keep it at those two, that will need the coils rebuilt, I'll be good with that.

I still really love the Ikenvape cartos too, so I'll keep some of those in my stash as well, ugh...WHEN you can order them. I'd like to really settle into a good routine with my vaping, and be done with the search and learn part for awhile.

I probably have at least 6 mechanicals laying around here. I do like the simplicity of them however at the same time, I wish I had more control over the discharge rate. You can add a component (called a Kick) that will give you some of the features of an APV but why don't just buy a real one if you're going to go that route?

My reasons were more for a doomsday device.

Okay peeps, I'm headed to the tub. Be back in a bit.:)
