yeah of course, please use it!

The rest of the project hasn't gone so well, unfortunately. It's pretty much together, except I realized I have no epoxy (by the way, what type/brand of epoxy do you normally use? I went to the hardware store but when I told the guy what I was doing he wasn't confident in what temperatures the different types would hold up to).. but my crappy drill struck again and cracked the box a bit, I have no dremel so I had a harder time fitting everything in than I should have, etc. But after going through this my next one should take about 1/4 of the time to make lol

Thanks stomp.. I'm gonna try and get it up ther this weekend..

The first one is always the hardest.. I've got piles of cracked boxes that I think I'll use for something someday.. right now the only purpose they serve is to piss off my wife and clutter my desk :(

There's nothing in there that really gets to any temp so any epoxy should work okay..

I use Loc tite 2 part liquid epoxy.. It was the first I ever bought and it comes in a two parts at 8 ounces each.. It's okay but has a long set time and can ooze a bit where you don't want it to so I usually have to let it set for a bit and then start applying it with a toothpick.. It's really strong when cured though..

I keep looking at jb weld, looks like a good product and some of the putty type epoxies would work good I think for molding around switches and stuff without oozing down and glueing the actuator..

Hoog.

Just needs the epoxy (and I would have liked to make the wiring cleaner to reduce the risk of shorting), but otherwise:

If I break it, hell, it's only another $7 or so worth of parts to make another. And it was fun! :)

Finished box looks nice stomp. And good pics on the how to. I was able to get a good look at that little pc board and like it a lot. Think I'll order some tonight, since I have to build a box this weekend for someone anyway. It's a 3x AAA box though, so hopefully I can fit the pc board with minimal grinding. We'll see.

No problem, just thought I'd mention it. I've been so happy with your service I figured I'd let people know it's not standard and that they may want to ask. Problem with going "above-n-beyond" customers expectations is their expectations then go up! :)

I've been working on my first 5v mod (my second mod period!) for days now. LOL, I'm too the point of needing to start soldering and I keep putting it off, mainly because I've only soldered the one other time and partly because I think I may have picked an over ambitiously small box!

Maybe tonight I'll tackle it! I still have to look-up/figure out how to wire my dual color LED so one color runs off master switch and one off momentary switch.... And what gauge wire I can use and get to fit.... and which size spring to go with.... and how many magnets am I gonna use....

With a dropout voltage of 3.0v, can these be used with a single battery? Essentially, it'd be functioning as a mosfet for the switch. Just curious, as I'm not a huge fan of high voltage.

The dropout on these is 5.5 volts so wouldn't work. They have a 3.5 volt version but I'm thinking with the dropout the battery life would be dismal.

They also make a 3.3 volt verion that would be usable as a mosfet but it'd almost be like right before your battery was going to die all the time :(

Optocouplers and SSR's also looks like they'd work great once I can find one to handle the amps.

I like mosfets, just don't like the smallness of them.
