i recently purchased lab equipment and diy supplies and saw pictures of a vendors lab using multiple mag mixers and 1L beakers. i only found two threads about this subject and need more info(the what when where why and how) about use and purpose. either device are available for under $100 and that is affordable enough for both if i can understand the purpose, benefit, pros and cons.
i used to work for the man that invented the ultrasonic laboratory bottle washer. hobart assisted his prototype build but declined to enter production. he started with a 10,000 sq ft building in south florida and setup manufacturing. the facility allowed production of another patent he held for a stainless steel pump housing that could be taken apart for cleaning easily. remove one stainless clamp and fully access the impeller. anyway, the company went public and distributed globally. every lab and hospital in the world went this way as it was performed by hand before. he recognized the necessity visiting labs worldwide working for bausch & lomb. he had a doctorate in optical physics.
the thread i found,(magnetic mixer) mentioned ultrasonic cleaners and maybe these could be used to sterilize bottles, beakers and mix liquids? any help i can get here will be greatly appreciated as i am clueless at the moment. i couldn't see the interior of the device but it was closed with a lid and capacity of more than a liter w/beaker could be an issue. it may serve multi-purpose?
for the most part, i will be making 10ml-100ml batches to start and may progress to 1L quantities. the weight limit on mag mixer i can afford at present was 10lb. seriously doubt i will endeavor to produce gallon batches but who knows.
any utilization to facilitate steeping info also welcome.
sorry i don't know how to link another thread here but my chemistry not computer skills are the more important in this case. thanks to all who reply in advance. i will hangout this evening for responses and answer questions you may need to advise.

Have you read through this thread? It will tell you much of what you are looking for as far as UC steeping. There are not many that use Magnetic stirrers that I've seen but there is spotty discussion of it in that thread.

My blog on steeping will also give you some general information on steeping

What I have read about magnetic stirrers is that the viscosity of e-liquids (and multiple viscosities of liquids in a mix) doesn't work out very well here. They aren't well suited for these liquids unless you are only mixing very thin high PG stuff. Maybe. And only if you can obtain larger mixing rods for the unit.

i will typically produce 70/30 mixtures. there was an assortment pack of teflon rods available for $7

They mix and blend extremely well imo. Thats what they do, they mix and blend, no golden eggs. Not much to clean up. Mine will do 100% vg but I only mix 45 ml at a time in a 50 ml flask with a 1" stir bar with a diy stirrer. How long you stir it, how fast, and when is up to you. After the initial stir the crap out of it, I stir mine 1 hr twice a day for 2 weeks before throwing it in a bottle. It does speed things up a bit. Done in about 3/4 time of just shake/sit alone, but its no ultrasonic. Lots of diy stir plates on u-tube, you'll be surprised at how cheap you can make one, before spending a bunch of money on one. (They're scalable).

i am beginning to see how both are potentially good investments. they could be used interchangeably stir/shake/stir for mixing. taste, let cool, add nic and repeat unheated. then shake alot once bottled to steep. the cleaner has multiple uses that i wasn't aware of before. from sterilizing bottles, premixing, warming ingredients to steeping mixtures. you can clean your dentures while agitating juice!
its amazing where ultrasonics have gone since i met the man that found the frequency to vibrate water. he was in his mid-eightys in '93. seventeen total patents and a brilliant man. i learned a great deal being associated with him while tending to his estate back then. great stories! he was an advocate of hydrogen power and discussed alternate energies to produce vast amounts such as ocean currents. wind, and solar. he participated in a wind installation in north india and an ocean current install off the coast of chile.
you know when your car burns hydrogen it exhales vapors breath and an occasional drip of water from the tailpipe. engines last incredibly long carbon free. sorry to stray but my point is big oil and auto won't allow us to go there. i think we can relate to that with bt.

Not to get off topic but ... Disagree about long lasting and carbon free. You wont run hydrogen in an aluminum engine for a long time, before replacing it with an all cast iron one that does not get eaten up by it. Thats one thing they don't tell you about hydrogen, it degrades/weakens aluminum over time. And there's that pesky explosion hazard. So it has to be made 'on demand' and not tanked. All looks good in theory though, and we have the tech. But you're right, we should have an economical hydrogen engine by now, and probably do. But there's no money in water yet, so we can relate that to Big.

yeah aluminum is a funny element. doesn't get along with certain antifreeze components either. the example i spoke of in india used acetylene tanks filled w/hydrogen at over 2000 psi. tanks were installed in mercedes-benz vehicles back in the 70s. range was reported to be 2500mis on a tankfull. and there is that hindenburg thing. there were survivors in that tragedy. not the explosion one might have expected and "oh the humanity" etched on the minds of generations. misconceptions apply there as they do to vaping in today's society. hey, if it looks like smoke?

i bought both the Hanna mini mag stir and the Isonic 4820 UC this weekend. lab glassware and nic test kit arrived today and the rest will be here end of week. ordered two types of magnets as the reviews talked how the pill shape caused a noise. so i got a 1" capsule and one shaped like a cross to compare. so many uses for the UC made it a must have for this tool guy.

paid forward one of my ego 1100 twist, charger, a t3s clearo, two coils, and 24mg juice recently. my wife has a best friend that has been trying to quit since new years using a v2 ecig. after questioning her experience thus far and letting her try some of my gear we agreed her 2.4%(24mg) liquid delivery and 3 batteries were weak. the condition of the cartos was dismal. i told her to keep her v2 as a backup and see if a better setup could satisfy cravings. so far she is happy as a lark and not smoking at all. i am glad for her success and glad to help. she has been a great help to my wife so "what the hey". i should order a ten pack of ego kits and stir some mortar. there isn't a vape store within an hour of me here on the highlands plateau. tourist season begins this month and blooms in may.

can't wait to see how vaping and golf go together this year. golf lends some great names for ejuices. St. Andrews, amen corner, tee time, justa agusta, caddy shack, bunker boba, tees and greens, jacks 18, championship, arnie's half and half, daly's driver and tiger's blood, milk, putter, trophy.....whatever!

enough rambling! happy vaping folks! FORE!!
