Good Morning Major!

I don't go to the surf beach anymore but's largely because the best surf beach I know is about 700km away and it's a long drive to go and find there's no surf. Life's a bit like being on a surf beach and life strikes me as being about staying on your board or not letting the sand get sucked from under your feet. At my favourite surf beach, little crabs get dug out of the sand by the current and nip your toes if you aren't quick enough to move away. Sometimes, you just have to relax in the water and let the rollers carry you in.

Look at these guys at Piha, that beach too far away for me to get to!

Life can be a beach, that which can drown you can also hold you up until you find the shore.

Good Morning/Evening All! It is going to be a lovely day! Since I sleep days and am awake nights, one of the joys for me is to take time out from whatever I am doing each day and watch the sun rise.

Not sure what meteorological reasons cause it to be so but today was especially gorgeous with wisps of feathery clouds as the burnt orange horizon eased its way into the beautiful bright blue sky. Made the coffee taste a but better than normal if I may say so.

I continue to enjoy the beautiful pictures and prose offered to the thread by so many. I have always been influenced by the lyrics of many songs I have enjoyed throughout my life. Although some see the song "The Boxer" by Paul Simon to be a gloomy song, I have never gotten that from it at all.

The last verse in particular strikes me as inspiring. Yes it speaks of shame but the key words to me are the last line of the verse:

In the clearing stands a boxer,
And a fighter by his trade
And he carries the reminders
Of ev'ry glove that laid him down
And cut him till he cried out
In his anger and his shame,
"I am leaving, I am leaving"
But the fighter still remains...

For me it is simple. You never win all battles in life and one thing that is assured is that none of us will get out of it alive! That said, no matter what I have faced and I am sure it is so true of many of you are the words "but the fighter still remains...".

Have a great day all! :)

Steve

Good Morning Major!

Another revealing, newsy, informative post....it has goaded me into posting a quotation for you today that is, for me revealing. Also it is the first time it has been posted anywhere. It's from an unknown, incomplete, fantasy by an obscure (and even less known) author.

"Every battle worn agent whether on land or sea knows that in certain campaigns that survival alone can be deemed victory; we are involved in just such a struggle."

Good Morning Major!

More food for thought:

(Common sense is not so common)

"Honi soit qui mal y pence"
(evil to him that thinks evil)
-Paschal

Known as "Anagram" or "Question"

Have an extraordinary day!

Good Morning/Evening All!!! Hope everyone is having a blessed day. I know I am guilty in losing sight of it at times but the simple fact of waking up each day is a gift unto itself.

Sure, not every days activities and happenings, both those we control and those we don't wind up in the category as memorable. Just being able to log on to these forums and see the greetings, prose, pictures and all make it a good start for anyone that wants to avail themselves of it. :)

I hope to be able to spend a bit more time while Imeo is away on holiday giving the guys a hand. And by the way, make it a great day, even if you have to look closely for a positive in it sometimes. We all truly have much to be thankful for indeed!

Indeed, buddy, I live each and every day as it will be my last as this is all so finite, I'd rather feel happy when I go to bed for the good things I've done than dwell on the negatives of the day....:)

WOW! Goooood AFTERNOON Major!

I just had to reply when I see that you are going to work! That is absolutely fantastic! I hope that it goes smoothly and that you pace yourself. Don't over do it!

Dear Major,

I have never been on this thread before today. I know so little and have so much to learn. I do not own any of your wonderful items, but I hope to some day. The first time I heard about it was a contest that Imeo was giving last month. It was such a lot of fun and I enjoyed all the people. I came on the thread because of something in the title. "Major guy, a good friend of us". Something drew me here.

I have a problem very similar to yours and also find it difficult to fight that "no more" feeling at times and so I totally understand and feel for you. I am so delighted and happy to read all of the responses to people here that love you. My goodness that is so tremendous. You are so very blessed. I understand the enemy "pain" and how it colors and shades every instance in life. It is not the great pain, the unbearable pain, but the forever, non ending pain that never goes away that we have to watch out for. It is like a great weight that is tied to our leg and tries to slowly pull us under the water to drown. Find you a sharp knife and slice through the rope, just for today. Yes, it will continue, but so will we and we will never yield and allow such an evil thing to beat us. Tomorrow, we must again find a sharp knife and do so again. All of your friends here are giving you the sharp knives that you need. Use them. It is so hard not being able to walk and drive. Myself finding this one of the most miserable blows of all, but again... we are strong and even when we are weak and brave enough to admit it, there is strength in that. Revel in your bravery and your strengths and like a dandelion, blow the weakness into the wind.

I think I have rambled quite long enough, but I wanted to know how thankful I am to have found you and your friends. How thankful I am to be able to use some of these knives to slice away my own weakness. I leave you with this one thought......

Find joy every day. If you cannot find it, make some. :)

big hugs

The Little Things

The little things are most worthwhile--
A quiet word, a look, a smile,
A listening ear that's quick to share
Another's thoughts, another's care...
Though sometimes they may seem quite small,
These little things mean most of all.
