Good Morning Major!

I hope you are well and that you are manifesting energy to continue the fight.

Some more fighting quotations! (I know you thought there weren't any left! :))

"To be nobody but yourself in a world that's doing its best to make you somebody else, is to fight the hardest battle you are ever going to fight. Never stop fighting.”
-E.E. Cummings

"Take the first step, and your mind will mobilize all its forces to your aid. But the first essential is that you begin. Once the battle is started, all that is within and without you will come to your assistance.”
-Robert Collier American motivational speaker

And finally two quotations in tribute to the lovely ladies who have recently graced us with their care, wit, charm, and concern, by posting to this thread.

"Nobody will ever win the battle of the sexes. There's too much fraternizing with the enemy.”
-Henry Kissinger

"She walks in beauty, like the night
Of cloudless climes and starry skies,
And all that's best of dark and bright
Meets in her aspect and her eyes;
Thus mellow'd to that tender light
Which Heaven to gaudy day denies."
-George Gordon Lord Byron"She walks in beauty, like the night"

Good Morning Major...good day...good wishes....good life.

Good Morning/Evening All! :) I realize I may sound repetitive but some things simply demand it! I continue to be in complete awe at the caring and warmth that makes up the content of this thread.

Anyone who is not uplifted and appreciative of such kindness simply has not been able to take the time and truly read the beauty of these posts. I recall as a child how my mother would read to us every morning at the breakfast table from the Bible and then relate what she had read to make it applicable to the day ahead.

I truly miss those times and consider them to be one of the best memories of my childhood. For me personally, the thoughts, well wishes, words and pictures you all take the time to share are so reminiscent of that time in my life. I know that I will never get to thank you all outside of of this thread this side of Heaven how invaluable all of this has been and continues to be.

Today my wife was using my PC as hers in down for the time being and I directed her to this thread. Sure I had told her of it but as she said to me, how could anyone NOT be inspired by people that only knew that another person needed uplifting? As usual, in the near 40 years we have been married, she is oh so correct and while it may sound so inadequate, may I again say thank you to you all.

I hope you all have the best of weekends and rest. I'll be back to re-read all the wonderful posts again with my morning coffee. After all, somethings you simply can't get enough of and reading this thread over and over again is one of them! :)

Look inside your heart...
for a dream is waiting there to encourage and inspire you; to take you anywhere.
Listen to your dream...
It beckons you to follow without doubt and without fear.
Feel the power of your dream...
For the strength that it will give will help you find your happiness every day you live.

Good Morning Major!

It appears that a solid, good, shot, of positive energy continues to flow to you, mainly, but also to others from this delightful thread. I hope you are feeling well and basquing in all the positive energy, thoughts, and prayers this thread is sending your way!

“A good battle plan that you act on today can be better than a perfect one tomorrow.”
-General George S. Patton

"Pessimism never won any battle."
-Dwight D. Eisenhower

I just couldn't resist some more fighintg quotations. Like tiny snippets of life, a short, sharp, well focused photograph of the spirit and senses, is what I believe a good quotation invokes. I hope that my posts, and all these other ones too, manifest within you not only more energy but positive energy.

Know that you all are in my thoughts daily; not just when I post a reply to this thread.

P.S. I'm delighted to see Priorities has returned and kudos to morri for assisting her in her posts.

Good Morning Major.

I love this poem. Hope it brings joy to someone.....

It Couldn't be Done

Edgar Guest

Somebody said that it couldn't be done,
But, he with a chuckle replied
That "maybe it couldn't" but he would be one
Who wouldn't say so till he'd tried.

So he buckled right in with the trace of a grin
On his face. If he worried he hid it.
He started to sing as he tackled the thing
That couldn't be done, as he did it.

Somebody scoffed: "Oh, you'll never do that;
At least no one we know has done it";
But he took off his coat and he took off his hat,
And the first thing we knew he'd begun it.

With a lift of his chin and a bit of a grin,
Without any doubting or quiddit,
He started to sing as he tackled the thing
That couldn't be done, and he did it.

There are thousands to tell you it cannot be done,
There are thousands to prophesy failure;
There are thousands to point out to you, one by one,
The dangers that wait to assail you.

But just buckle right in with a bit of a grin,
Just take off your coat and go to it;
Just start to sing as you tackle the thing
That cannot be done, and you'll do it

hugs to all

Good Morning Major!

I have to say, today was not the best day. I found myself waiting for a bus desperate to get home with an hour of travel ahead. But then the most wonderful thing. By sheer co-incidence, I arrived home just in time to watch the amazing and seemingly impossible landing of Curiosity on Mars.

There is something so moving and so wonderful when these kind of things happen. When I saw the announcement on the Higgs Boson, the exuberant joy of those directly involved became contagious. After the struggle to get home and many other setbacks today, seeing the pictures beamed back from so far away so quickly, warmed my heart removing the heartache of the previous hours.

To a History graduate and lover off all things historical, there is nothing as incredible as seeing history being made. Not the history of war, plague and disaster (as is often the case), but something so unbelievable that pinching yourself seems necessary.

I hope you saw it Major, the joy, the tears, the cheers, the realisation dawning on the faces of a few that despite huge distance, mind-blowing speeds, hellish heat and unproven technologies, something people did- actually worked. The sadness that we have had to leave our own planet to achieve such feats is overwhelmed by the thought that humanity got that far.

Today was a good day to be a human. It is true that our world is a terrible mess and it seems impossible to fix everything but it is also true that people if they work together in a better way with less of our negative qualities, can achieve great things.

Love to All My Fellow Humans,

:vapor:
