I don't use a lot of sweetener, but when I do it's Sucralose (WL). I also use EM or marshmallow once in awhile for a sweeter taste.

Not sure about sweet and low but sugar is a definite no-no (imo). I'm not convinced it's entirely safe to vape and I know for a fact it will really gunk up your coils fast.

Cheers,
Steve

EM crystals are dirt cheap ... even though I hardly use sweetener ... for the cost, why not have it in your supplies?

I saw somewhere that you have to crush them up first. I also saw a 10% concentrate or something at Wizard but they were out of stock. Is the liquid concentrate the same as the crystals?

OK-- there is the ethyl maltol crystals, and the liquid sweetener, which has sucralose. I have a lemon tea mix which desperately needs sweetening. The solution I made of sugar and saccarine helps. Which would be better for that-- ethyl Maltol or sucralose? I would think I would dissolve the EM in my (0 nic) base.

The crystals are just the dried form of the liquid concentrate (well the liquid is made from the crystals, but you know what I mean). I bought this Ethyl Maltol Crystals (TFA)
It's 7 grams for only $1.49. You only use a gram (1/4 teaspoon) per 10ml of PG for a 10% concentrate. The way I look at it, I can make at least 70ml of EM, a lifetime supply lol

Cheers,
Steve

PS It is already crushed up (no further crushing required). Now the menthol crystals I bought from WL needed crushing.

Thanks, Steve. Decision made.

Your welcome, always glad to help. One tip is to put the bottle of PG and EM crystals in a glass of warm water from the tap. Warming the mixture will help to dissolve the crystals quicker. Be prepared to shake it a few times as well lol ;)

Cheers,
Steve

I was contemplating an order to Wizard, but realized that it is sort of dumb to order sweetener. So I mixed some sugar and sweet & low in some 50/50. I think it is a saturated solution. :p Is that safe? What do others use?

No, this is ill-advised. In the words of an ECF "resident" chemist,
"sugars in general are not recommended, since they easily decompose with heat into stuff you do not want to inhale: aldehydes, free-radicals, etc."

1/4 teaspoon to 10ml pg. Warm the pg first. I use this for ecigs and for cooking.

sucrolose can be mixed in pg, vg or purified water. If you use purified water it needs to be refrigerated.

Powdered sweeteners in packets all contain fillers that will gunk up your coils really quickly... Saccharine degrades with heat, which is why it's not used in baking. Sugar will definitely kill your coils quickly. The 100% sucralose powder or Ethyl Maltol powder is your best bet for DIY sweetener... I would avoid saccharine completely.

I know this thread is old but it is the closest to my question. Does anyone have a good starting point for blending a powdered stevia to make a liquid stevia sweetener for DIY. I have pure Stevia Rebaudiana powder and I would like a PG or VG 2oz bottle for adding to my sauce:). Any advice, should I go with 1/4tsp per 8/10ml like Sucralose?

Moving post to a more recent thread
