This question needs it's own thread with detailed pichers. Not how i wanted to start my day,i may be reading all day now. I have been looking at these reports lately but what im finding is only on damage and not any info on what they are using and how. Is this mostly happening with high watts, mech mods,...what? I have just bought a cool fire 4 and have dropped a few times, should i throw the dam thing away?
Pretty sure it's the same hospital photo.
Damn sure it's the same mod and battery photo.
But there's always that chance I'm a little off.

You don't want a lipo above 110 deg F.Can this happen to a regulated mod my MVP 3.0 pro with my RDA at .25ohms at 60 watts after some chain vaping got so hot I had to put it down

I was always under the impression that a regulated mod would not allow the battery to be pushed beyond the amp limitsYou don't want a lipo above 110 deg F.
So hot I had to put it down has to be above 140.
You're playing with fire. More specifically a road flare in your hand that you have no idea which end is the business end.

Was it this guy? I thought that turned out to be hoax.

I know, first thing i saw before even morning coffee, some say i am grumpy, snappy, whatever, lol before my coffee. I feel better now, thinking a little more clearly. This question needs it's own thread with detailed pichers.
Either that or you can waistfully throw away anything with a battery in it every time you ding it.

If everything is spec'd out with the right safety margins, regulation should keep the battery safe.I was always under the impression that a regulated mod would not allow the battery to be pushed beyond the amp limits
Can't wait to get my first unregulated mod that's in the mail w/o mosfed dual 26650 parallel 50amp batts I only build around .1-.2 buy the battery drain calculator it's safe

Sounds like you should be fine then.I know, first thing i saw before even morning coffee, some say i am grumpy, snappy, whatever, lol before my coffee. I feel better now, thinking a little more clearly.
I have dropped it but there is no damage i can see. It is nerving though. I wish they gave more info on how this kind of thing happens so we can avoid what we can. I stay below 12watts at all times...so far.
The Way I understand it is unregulated is safe so long as you're not stupid and don't go past the capacity of the amps of the batteryregulated mods = safer

So you're supposed to use flat top batts with it? Isn't that every device? I've even heard box mods saying to use flat topsWell, that's one but it probably isn't the primary. The bigger advantage is it reduced the overall length of the mod +topper. In fact, that there is little voltage drop becomes the DISadvantage when your negative thread on the outside, contacts the nipple or flat top positive of the battery. The meltdown at that point happens VERY quickly. I consider those hybrid mods suicide devices. Using them requires BOTH a great deal of experience, AND a great deal of diligence.
Can unregulated be just as save with proper education and battery safetyI said safer, not safe
Ueah that good ol SMPL mod that does not even have an insulator in the top. So if no topper and you hit the fire button direct short. Or same thing if the topper comes unscrewed some during use.I am thinking you might be talking about something like the SMPL mod?

Not unless they have a fuse or some form of overcurrent protection in them. Can unregulated be just as save with proper education and battery safety

Why can't you use an atlantis on a hybrid device? I'm confused and needless to say I'll never buy a hybrid top lol. But I would expect the person to do some research first or god forbid a shop sold it to him and didn't tell him about the safety issues. This is tragic tho. And not complete ignorance. It was an accidentWell, I am not sure I like to "rely" on some cheap chinese "chip" to keep me safe. I mean, electronics do have failure points.
I guess it really depends, for me, who make the chip and if the device the chip goes into is also a reliable manufacturer.
I am very much against all this constant "blame the user" though, because, as I indicated in another topic similar to this one, I've vaped for 3 years and I would not intuitively know that I couldn't use certain atties with something like the SMPL mod and other stuff. Don't kid yourself, there are people on this board who have vaped a while and don't know stuff......people may be less willing to admit that than I am.
However, ANY battery (esp. if you don't buy good ones to begin with and don't have a good charger) can do weird things. That is why after people have failures of some sort, and you always see them coming on here and saying "can I still use the battery?" and mostly we tell them ..........don't.
Spend another $10 or so and get a new battery.
And these people aren't idiots. They are people who vape every day, and participate on vaping forums.
Besides, the blame game, in the face of an accident (ANY accident whether vaping or not) just always seems extremely convenient, and somewhat distateful. The longer I live the longer I realize that ..... every time I step outside to do something, in the wrong shoes, etc. or when my 75 pound retriever gets a little too frisky with me.
Accidents happen and people don't *deserve* to be hurt, ya know? We are all absent-minded sometimes, or are not consciously "focussed" at every moment of every day even though we kinda need to be.
There but for the grace of god go I.........
(A few years ago I visited a small child on the burn unit and it happens in "blink of an eye" how fast a toddler can move and there was something on stove boiling.....he had good parents, caring parents, not bad parents. I would have punched out anyone who made any kind of remark about this.....in the face of so much human suffering, it is just distateful to me
Not unless they have a fuse or some form of overcurrent protection in them.
Yep.
That's the one I was thinking about.
Though I swear I've seen the mod and battery pic from this thread somewhere.
Dunno if it was a hoax.
Looks like roxy remembers it too?
