Maths help for nicotine levels! Please!

Hi guys. I've managed to switch a mate of mine to e cigs but he's on the 18mg and I'm on DIY 6mg. I've got 72mg concentrate and I need some help working out how many mls of the concentrate I need to add in a 10ml bottle with 6mg to let him try some of my ready made e liquids.

I'm completely blank. Please help.

Do you have a calculator for mixing. The ejuicemeup one works great. For a 10ml mix, starting with 72mg, .8ml will get you close to 18mg

You'll need a total of 180mg nic in the resulting 10mL bottle.

I'm presuming you're going to basically add your pre-existing 6mg juice with enough 72mg/mL to get up to the 18mg? If so, then

x mL of 72mg + (10-x) mL of 6mg needs to = 10 mL of 18mg

72x - 6x = 180 - 60

66x = 120

x = 120/66 = 1.81818181 mL of the 72mg concentrate. Then, 10-1.818181 = 8.1818181 of the 6mg juice should do it.

Adding 2ml of 72 to 10ml of 8 will give you 12ml at around 18.6mg, BUT you'll be diluting your flavors. I take it you only have 10ml store bought? I'd get some flavors and jump in on diy asap. It's a lot of fun and way cheaper than premixed from a vendor.

Well done. I love a good chemistry problem I solved slightly differently, assuming he wants to add 72mg/ml juice to a pre-made bottle of 10ml's....

You are solving for Y ml's... Concentration x Vol = Conc x Vol...

18mg/ml x (10 + Y) ml = (6mg/ml x 10ml) + (72mg/ml x Y ml)
180 + 18Y = 60 + 72Y
Y = 120/54 = 2.22 ml

So add 2.22 ml of 72mg/ml nic to a 10ml bottle. As said above, this will dilute your flavors by ~20%.

Yeppers. I've tried responding to these types of questions before, and I am never 100% sure whether they want to "pour into a bigger bottle" or "use the existing size they have". So, depending on "desired ending volume" both answers will work

I've made the liquids myself and I'm just looking to top up the nic. They're pretty strong flavourwise already. He's only an ego style newbie so he's quite happy with them. Thanks so much for the advice. I'll be adding 1.8ml of the 72mg to 8ml my DIY 6mg and I will probably add a couple of drops of flavour just to balance it out. As long as the nic is close he will be happy. I don't want to make some from scratch for him as I've got oodles of the stuff already and I don't mind repurposing some of it! Thanks everyone!
