All you boys talking about how you can't wait for your woodies are making me laugh... :nun:

For a more serious question - are the doors in the Woodvilles generally interchangeable? My 18490 seems like the dovetail (? not sure that's the right term) holds the door way more than the magnet does. But if they can be interchanged, I'd probably try for another 18490 in a light color. Otherwise, I'm all over a side button Grand - I can't use the top-fire grand because my hands are small, and I haven't tried a Mini yet so I don't know if a top button 18490 would work. But I'd love the bigger bottle of the grand.

I have lots of wood REO's. I have found that in any given model the doors do not exchange. It is fun to try! But you realize the hand work that goes into them when you see the different sizes of doors! Thicker and wider on some. All are sanded to fit that one wood REO!

Yep, that's what makes them so darn special. Looking forward to having a second REO once it's wood time.

Thanks everyone. I had a feeling that was the case because the dovetails (still don't know if I'm using that correctly) are so precise. Given that I live someplace incredibly humid (insert wood swelling joke here, wiseasses!) even if they were generally swappable I have a feeling that the humidity would make that difficult. Better start saving for a Grand Woodville then, huh? =)

I can not WAIT for the mechanical woods to come out. It's so weird. I love my metal REO yet I almost always use my woodville. I just love love love love love that sucker so much more than I thought I would.

Out of curiosity, if one were to guess how big do y'all think they will be in comparison with standard woodvilles of the same type? I really want a grand but the reason I never got a grand woodville in the last run was because I felt it would be bigger than I want. So now I'm wondering if the mechanicals will be similar in size or bigger. Either way, I'll probably end up getting a 18490 anyway because I have really enjoyed using that size. My current woodville is a 14500 but my metal one is 18490 so I'd love to have an 18490 wood for better battery life.

I just hope I have money whenever they come out. I want an 18650, any kind of wood, except possibly oak. I love wood with some character to it. I guess I'll just have to wait and see, and hopefully save up enough when the time comes.

I sanded my 3 year old oak woodvil & switched it to a natural finish. If you saw/held it you might re-think your opinion of oak.
