The button will be held in place by the firing pin pushing up. So slide the firing pin out and unlock the button. It will fall out. The put the new button in and lock it. Slide the firing pin back under the new button. And its supported now. If you are talking about the the cap for the button, then lay a piece of dental floss over the top of your button. Please make sure the button is in the locker position. Then push the button cover on. Clip any floss sticking out the side.

Installed the new contacts today in my old trusty GRand. It said "Thank you."
Here's a picture of my work area. All tidy as usual with everything in its place.

Here's my readings. Unfortunately I forgot to read my old voltage drop. Sony VTC5 battery
Battery 4.05v
battery with load 3.92
Battery internal resistance 4.05-3.92=.13
reading at RM2 Terminals with 1.0 ohm coil 3.82
.1 voltage drop at 1 ohm

Things I noticed. THe spring installation was the toughest part for me. The new firing mechanism has a lighter touch. It hits a lot harder so I am going to run a higher ohm 1.3-1.4 or so. I am getting sparking.

1.0 and 1.1 ohm coils with Sony and LG flat tops with no sparking here. On both a Tumbled Raw and Black Wrinkle Grand.

I did nothing special with the spring. I did hold the center pin with a flat blade screw driver and tightened the nipple with a pliers. I wonder if a loose connection or silicone condom trapped between the firing pin and the nipple is causing it?

I can't get the spring screw out! The only phillips head screw driver I have it the little one that comes with the kayfuns. It's not long enough to get any leverage. My husband tried it and now it's almost stripped. I guess I can take it to work with me tomorrow and let the maintenance guys have a go at it. Either that or send it in and let Rob do it.. which I should have done to begin with. :glare:

I have been out of pocket for a few days so I just got the SO kits installed. I am running a .8ohm and a 1.1ohm coil in both of mine with no sparking.

Good thing I kept the old parts though…..I am now short 1 small white washer….lol

the first one went together so easy I did not pay attention on the second and the washer was crooked when I pushed down.

I did not take any readings before or after but I can tell the difference in the vape. I think I will stick to 1.1ohms and enjoy the extended battery life on these two. When I get the LP and the AFC top cap I may build a throat scorcher just to say yea…..I tried that and now I can't talk….:D

I did it! Everything is back together and up and running! Thanks superX for the video! I didn't take any before/after readings either but my coil is 1Ω where it was .9Ω before and I can definitely tell a difference plus it now fires all my flat tops!

I also got my new olive/black grand in today and can swap doors if I want :D I now have 4 different color combos in the 2 metal grands that I have! Plus lots more batts that I can use!

Life is good :)

I had to use a screwdriver bigger than what you would think to get that screw out.
