Just throwing this out there but... using sandpaper to improve conductivity will most likely make it worse. I spent a good amount of time as a first year controls electrician apprentice polishing contacts... the larger the contact surface the better the conductivity, sand paper (anything coarser than say 600 grit) will create hundreds of ridges and add a .... load of resistance to a circuit (increasing arcing in the process)...just saying...

Just as a follow up... a handy tool for your kit is a couple of those polishing files/blocks ladies use for their finger nails...they typically come with different grades of ultra fine abrasive surfaces which is why I like the blocks (they have 4)

I had that issue with one of mine, so I spun the spring slightly counter clockwise to loosen the hold and then the screw came-out

Good one FB, that usually works. I know from my backyard mechanic days, when I would run into a stripped Philips head screw, I would put a little valve grinding compound in the screw head for traction. Saved my .... a few times in situations where I couldn't just drill it out.

A Sunshine polishing cloth for jewelry works extremely well, too. It's designed to remove oxidization and not leave scratches. :) It's what I use on my batts and my jewelry.

I've barely been on ECF/in REOville for a quite a while now.

So, I ordered my SO kit a few days ago, and it should be in my mailbox when I get home (let's hope.)
Without Russ' vid, I would be lost, so thanks for that, Supe :)
I'm sure I'll be pausing/playing non-stop when I get started.

Now, I've searched the thread, but couldn't come up with a definitive answer:
I know no more filing, but also, no more Noalox?
Not needed, or not recommended?

(And if HAS been clearly stated, and I glossed over it, I'm sorry  )

im still using a drop of noalox to help with the sparking , top contact seems to get oxidized from the sparking so a lil dab of noalox and problem solved

Not needed unless you are experiencing sparking (Sub-OHM) I run around 1-1.5 I've had no need for it.

I don't know when all sense of modest left us. These new Reos struttin' round with their batteries showin' to the whole world. I guess I'm just getting old but I have my standards. Pull up your damn pants and get off my lawn.
