Just thought I would report that I just received my mechanical switch for the Protege and it is, as promised, MUCH better than the tact switch. The Protege is much harder hitting....and hopefully more reliable! Worth every bit of 20 bucks!

Well, I got mine today and it was missing the center post that connects with the battery so I really can't comment on how well it works!

How can that be? Are the electrons on steroids now?
My switch came and I put it in today, but it does not work at all. Nothing! What am I doing wrong??? When I took the rubber band off it fell apart. Maybe I didn't put it back together right?? There is a black casing, a spring, the black piece with a hole in it (for the spring I thing) and the button. I slipped it in, but I don't get anything. I changed to a new charged battery and changed a couple of atty to make sure all was good, but it just doesn't work, Anyone have any ideas???? Thanks
Here are pics to help. Carefully turn the brass buttons on the ends (with pliers) of the unit (red arrows pointing) to turn the contacts inside (circled in white) so that the round edge is showing. These are what will contact with the copper ring.My switch came and I put it in today, but it does not work at all. Nothing! What am I doing wrong??? When I took the rubber band off it fell apart. Steve and Casey, are brass contacts standard?
Hrm, perhaps the problem with mine is actually the aluminum contacts!!!!!!!
