Just thought I would report that I just received my mechanical switch for the Protege and it is, as promised, MUCH better than the tact switch. The Protege is much harder hitting....and hopefully more reliable! Worth every bit of 20 bucks!

Happy it got there safe and sound PVQ ... Enjoy :)

Well, I got mine today and it was missing the center post that connects with the battery so I really can't comment on how well it works!

Rob - Are you talking about the small aluminum contact post? There should be 2 -- 1 on each side of the plastic housing. I'm assuming 1 is missing? Check the bubble back the switch came in - may have slipped out of the housing!

If not, shoot us an email so we can get this sent to you ASAP! Sorry about that Rob.

My switch came and I put it in today, but it does not work at all. Nothing! What am I doing wrong??? When I took the rubber band off it fell apart. Maybe I didn't put it back together right?? There is a black casing, a spring, the black piece with a hole in it (for the spring I thing) and the button. I slipped it in, but I don't get anything. I changed to a new charged battery and changed a couple of atty to make sure all was good, but it just doesn't work, Anyone have any ideas???? Thanks

Same thing with mine. The black body that everything goes in should have a button on both ends stuck through the holes. On the small part of those buttons (kinda look like thumbtacks) that goes through the hole there is a flat spot on the end. Make sure you rotate that so that the round part is up towards the button. That is what made mine work!

Here are pics to help. Carefully turn the brass buttons on the ends (with pliers) of the unit (red arrows pointing) to turn the contacts inside (circled in white) so that the round edge is showing. These are what will contact with the copper ring.
Hope this helps.
Rita:)

I got my switch in and it is awesome! It went together easy and after a day or two of use the button has loosened up a lot and is pretty easy to use. It definitely increases the hit which I noticed immediately. Out of all of my purchases in almost a year this switch and a $2 bottle of vegetable glycerin have been my best purchases.

The USB adapter is awesome as well. Just make sure you fit the rubber adapter all the way inside the tube! The protege, mech switch & a USB adapter is like having the V2 early!
