Gone AWOL
Todd, I loved the review. "Overlooked" may have been poor wording on my part. My thought was that just because it is sent with certain resistances in it, it could probably be rebuilt in different formats, which I was hoping for in the follow up. Personally, I probably wouldn't use every coil position, just 2-3. There could be 3 coils of similar resistance but different wicks for example. One could be traditional silica, another with a hybrid silica/mesh, and another with Ekowool. Or, simply do two and switch between single and dual coil on the fly. Build three or four singles but have them in a range that plays well with mechs.

Basically, toss out the resistance markings on the side and build whatever cluster of coils will give a good vape based on a particular setup. I've learned a lot about rebuilding from your vids and was betting you would come up with some crazy configuration that you had gotten to work well for you. Trying to mimic the factory setup seems like a tall order, but getting 2-4 diverse coil builds in there seems realistic.

Another thing that would go a long way to address the vape on this would be to have multiple air holes drilled into the lip, that way depending on what coil setup you are using, you can spin the top cap round to ensure you are getting the vape next to the coils you are using, rather than being blocked.

    That make sense?

excuse the crap picture but this is what I would do,

    Have 4 settings, V1 - V4
an air hole in each of each coil, only one air hole in top cap so you can slide round to match up with the wick you are using
Philips screws on top of the posts to make for easier attachment

This way you could remove some of the posts inside and get better a more manageable area to work in

The cap is friction fit by the use of o-rings... so it can already spin around to adjust where the air hole is lined up at.

The air slot is only in one place on the lip, if your coils being used are not those next to it, you aren't going to get much air. You can rotate the cap all you want, that's just going to open or close the air coming through that slot in the lip.

If you had 4 air holes in the lip, one in front of each (reduced to 4), you would just rotate the hole in the cap to the specific hole in the lip for your coil selected via twisting the bottom.

Thanks Fury, glad someone understood :D

I try, the lovely picture helps:toast:

I imagine something like the holes in the lip of the arrow and the corresponding holes in the top cap, just more of them in the lip.

got it guys, wrote it on the list.

A bit off topic but a toned down version of this (with the air holes like outlined a few posts up) would likely be a hit. Even two coils, would give a bit of versatility and make it more accessible to those with less experience and patience.

Ok got the Medusa in, first impressions:
Holy crap that is alot of wicks!!!!!

Here are some pics, I still have more testing to do, but here are the pics I took last night during unboxing.

This comes prewired with 7 coils!!! Thank God!
And comes with 4 additional wicks, one of them having 4 .5 ohm coils on it.
    More to follow.

    Interesting, Internal deck LED....

    IMG_1258_zps29964fc5.jpg

Ok so checking resistance, assuming that the triangle with the dot on it lines up selector for resistance I get the following:
This is the sequence moving the triangle dot through the resistance marks to the right.
    Marked - Actual resistance measured
    1.5 - 2.5
    2.0 - 2.8
    4.0 - 4.4
    3.2 - 3.5
    2.7 - 2.7
    2.2 - 2.6
    1.7 - 2.0

For the paranoid user that caries many backups in case a coil goes out I can see this as a perfect companion. One coil burns out simply rotate to a new coil combination.

Now I LIKE the adjustible air flow, very easy to adjust on the fly!!!

    Still playing.

I found a pic of the internals, and how the selection is made:

    Selector_zps527adc22.jpg

I also found out that dual coil is 1.5 and 2.0 and everything else is standard single coil resistance.
On a VW PV this thing is great, however if you only own a mechanical or VV PV you will have a hard time enjoying this product as 1) mechanical mods will not have the power to push the device, and 2) VV PV's will constanly have to adjust your voltage when selecting different resistance modes.
Of course you could recoil it for a set resistance for mech or VV PV's and then have backup coils for when one burns out.

Thanks for the schematic and additional pics Dan! I'm not sure if I'm reading it correctly. Is it just me or are those different from traditional dual setups? When I think 1.5ohm dual I associate that with two 3ohm coils and 2ohm dual I would think of as two 4ohm coils. I may need to brush up on electrical circuits before I play around with this lol.
