I got an hcigar Trident V1 because I couldn't taste my vapes anymore. Tonight I built my first setup. Dual coil serial. Came out to .8 ohms of 8 or 9 wraps of 26 gauge kanthal. I'm proud. Didn't really need or want to be subohm, but I was following someone else's instructions. So excited. Gonna do some math to bring it up to 1.4 or 1.5 so I can use it on my MVP2 OR my mech. Woot!

What do ya'all think?

I'm brand new at this too. I built my first coil with the supervision of the shop guy using #26 kanthal 8 wraps and when he tested it came out at about 2 ohm. Is yours sub-ohm due to the serial coils? What is the advantage of serial coils and how do you do them?

They are parallel coils because as far as your battery is concerned they have a single positive and a single negative connection. That is why the resistance is subohm. Each coil measures on its own 1.6Ω.

When you use dual coils like that you halve the resistance of the pair and it's important you know this, because misunderstanding it may cause you to build too low and compromise your battery.

Your coils look good - the cotton looks a bit on the thin side (normally people here are overstuffing their coils and choking them!). How does it vape?

^^^ this
also, is it just the angle or is the coil on top going to touch/get crunched by your top cap when you put it on? Make sure you are aware of where any metal could contact the coils. Also you're going to want to make sure the coils are aligned with where the air holes are. Direct air flow is important.

The coils themselves look great for a first time :)

Thanks! It was a ton of fun and I was very excited about it all. Lol like a little kid dancing around the house and showing everyone even though they had no idea what I was excited about or talking about when I tried to explain. I got the instructions here:
here I would have started with a higher gauge, but 26 was all that was available to me at the moment. I vaped it a few times and the e-juice I have it way too strong, but it made some pretty clouds. Tasted trashy though. I need to get lower nic juice for it. I also didn't have enough cotton as others have pointed out. I fixed that and it was still too strong, but I expected that going in given the level of nic in the juice I've got.
