Sure looks cool...
but is it really what I want? I don't think so. Here's why.

1) I don't think that e-liquid and a MP-3 player are compatable

2) It's really just another 3.7 device when all is said and done.

3) There are alteady devices on the market with more battery life.

4) Who really cares how many puffs I take in a day

Normally, I really anticipate and look forward to getting just about everything that you come out with. On this however, I think I'll pass.
IMHO, you really missed the mark this time.:nah:

Is that a ten mL bottle sitting next to it? In this rendering it's difficult for me to get a sense of scale.

I do like the MP3 player idea. And 8 gigs. . . hmmm. Will it use SD memory cards? If it will 8 gigs could be anything 4 or whatever and you could share it with just about everything like my camera and my PSP and a million other devices. And, not being "built in", if something were to malfunction then the whole device wouldn't go into paperweight mode.

I have a few other things I'm thinking. . . so.

I happen to be one of those people that carry an MP3 player everywhere (I listen to books), so this would actually be a convergence device for me, and I'd at least consider buying one.

I do worry about the quality and reliability however. Seems like a monumental challenge to design quality and reliability into two devices at once, especially since they are inherently non-compatible (heat, liquid, electronics). I can see why it's taking so long since concept, and I'll bet you'll overshoot your estimates by another year. And I'll place another bet that you won't recover your investment.

I think this thing is a neat idea, but (as some others mentioned already) we need more than 8 little gigs in this baby. This isn't 1998, this thing should have a minimum of 40 gigs to replace anyone's devoted mp3 player...otherwise you just have another device to carry around.

Easily solved by adding a MicroSD port. You could slap a 32GB card in it and you'd be set.

Really- I had to read it twice- for a second I thought it was a joke..

3.7 Volts? You should have gone to 5 volt or higher. I'm sorry but it kinda makes it look like a toy.

Idea- You put a MP3 track in the memory that is an explanation of vaping- so someone can just push play and the device will explain what it is to onlookers as you vape.

Mp3 player? Meh. I have those and they have pretty lcd screens to play movies and games and such. In a pinch my phone does that as well.

Now a data thumbdrive on the other hand, I'm all about it. Oh yeah, I'm posting this from a laptop at work with my JS plugged into 1 port and a thumbdrive plugged into another running Firefox portable (a must for me as I loathe IE). This would eliminate me needing to carry a thumbdrive.

And I'll miss the 801. It's superior to the 510 IMO.

I'm sorry but it kinda makes it look like a toy.

Reading the description that Mik wrote, I think this is kinda the idea.

The basics of The Cameo, is to hide what it is. At work, in the bus, at a play, we want people to be able to have their vaping device with them; but also to be able to hide what it infact is.

I have to stealth vape at work, I don't have much of a choice. This would be perfect for me. When I want to do some high voltage vaping, I'll break out my Chuck at home or in the car. Large plumes of vapor from higher voltage wouldn't really fly while I am sitting in my cubicle, or while I'm doing some shopping or anywhere else where it would attract unwarranted attention.

"Smoking? Of course not. It's my mp3 player. See?"

Hey guys.

Okay so ill try to answer some of the questions here - forgive me for not quoting you all exactly! ;)

Ill try to do this as more questions pop in also - regardless of them being negative or positive answers!

here we go:

Make it without the mp3, and I just may buy it.

Does it take standard carts?

Yes

I'd rather have seen the effort (and case space) put into doing away with carts and developing some quality integrated juice delivery system.

The mp3 player is utilizing space that would be there anyways - so its not bigger or bulkier because of the mp3 player

Hopefully the atty doesn't leak the JS did. I really don't think a mp3 player or speaker will apppreciate the liquid.

Its sealed completely (or, thats the intent with the design on the inside..we will test this thoroughly ofcourse)

perfect for the airport lol .... hey mik.... remember the "guess what the cameo has" comp???

well as i was pretty much the closet guess i think i should get a free one hahahaha

Yes, a few of you got quite close.. but no cigar =)

Where is the button? I like the square design better, the Janty Stick I just received is the perfect shape. It feels perfect in my hand!

The button is located underneath the device and is a "real" button this time

Please don't use the word 'Smoke' (or 'cigarette') anywhere on or in it...use something like "Vapor" instead. I'm trying to get as far away from anything 'smoke' as I can. "Smoke" is yucky....this stick is not.

True, i didnt think of that - just added the smoke it up.mp3 to signal that this was an mp3 player ;)

What'll the price-tag be?

Ooone milliooooo-oon dollars. *cough* - we dont know yet, but this is ofcourse important and once we do get an estimate we will tell you

(By 'fully retractable' does that mean even the mouthpiece can be hidden?)

Yes

Very creative. (that's the easy part)

I disagree, and i think most designers will disagree with you on that

Is this what customers want though?
Have you conducted market research ?

This is what we are doing now

The retractable atty is useful.
The rest is neither here nor there, just adding cost.
It will be a normal 510 3.7 vaping experience like the JS.

Not quite. With two 3.7v batteries, it will maintain a higher peak ratio, for a prolonged time, giving you a much richer experience while vaping, for a longer duration.

I don't care how many puffs i take a day...especially since I'm using different devices, so will never really know.

Some people would like to be able to see how much they smoke a day, and this is one way to figure it out + its a very easy thing to implement, so why not do it is what we thought

Sorry to be so harsh, but if you knew what my job consisted of, you would understand.

I dont see it as being harsh, your questions are valid: I hope you find my answers equally valid

Is that a ten mL bottle sitting next to it? In this rendering it's difficult for me to get a sense of scale.

The original size of it - and this might not be the size once its produced, is 4 cms wide, 4 cms tall, and 8 cm's deep

What a disappointment. I was hoping for the KISS principle with a dual batt and a rock solid performance- or a mod/feature that would enhance the actual vaping experience, not the peri-vaping experience.

We do have other products in development - but i wont post them for a few days ;)

I think this thing is a neat idea, but (as some others mentioned already) we need more than 8 little gigs in this baby. This isn't 1998, this thing should have a minimum of 40 gigs to replace anyone's devoted mp3 player...otherwise you just have another device to carry around.

I both agree and disagree. This is not ment to replace everything you own - its ment as a comfort zone thing. Ie. you can load this up for work - or for a week's worth of what you will listen to while at work. Then change it for the next week. You can put a movie on there, - or a game, or work files that are big. Thats all pretty useful, and if we do put 40gb's in there, then we suddenly have to up the price on this thing: And why do that, when you can get around with having 8gb's - afterall, you wont buy this thing because its an mp3 player or because its a USB drive: but because its that + an e-cigaret and hopefully, also because you like the design of it. But who knows, we might put more storage into it - but first we need to get other stuff sorted ;)

Phew, - didnt expect this much feedback so soon : but by all means keep it coming, ill do my best to answer!

also disappointed. janty seems like one of the only companies with the resources, skills, and motivation to truly innovate. think you missed the mark on this one.

here's an idea. replace the mp3 with circutry that allows you to select your voltage. the user can "dial" in anything from 3V to 6V. then add true atty protection through temperature regulation. not just a simple cut-off, but pulse the voltage.

seems like a better use of space and chips to me. then the cameo would be really interesting. a must have.

More answers:

3.7 Volts? You should have gone to 5 volt or higher. I'm sorry but it kinda makes it look like a toy.

We might make a 5v device one day, but 3.7 is more than enough for anyones need. When running at 5v its nearly impossible to use carts in a proper fashion - its also dangerous for both the atomizer and your health if used incorrectly. So once we do make a 5v device, it will probably be intended for the drippers / home vapers - and not as a broad audience vaping device, as most of our devices are at the moment. I hope this makes sense.

In other words: If we sell a 5v vaping device to my mom, she will phone me in one hour asking why its tasting burnt, and then phone me 1 hour after that asking why the atomizer is dead; all she did was hold in the button a bit too long, with not enough liquid in it. ;)

Idea- You put a MP3 track in the memory that is an explanation of vaping- so someone can just push play and the device will explain what it is to onlookers as you vape.

Hehe, i like that idea ;) Would save me ALOT of time!

Mik, what about the suggestion of adding a MicroSD card slot? It's small, and wouldn't take up much room, and would satisfy those of us who would like extra memory for the mp3 player or data.

This could be done yes, but for now we need to make what we do have work, and once thats working we can look at expansion options - but it is a good idea, that we will think about

So what was added from the ideas in the Cameo thread after words for the delay?

Nothing. The delay was caused by two things: 1) the battery consumption when using both mp3 player and the cameo as a vaping device - an issue were trying to fix at the moment, and 2) The retractable atomizer system, allthough working, did jam a bit too often - so were re-thinking the ways of doing this in order to hopefully obtain a solution that _just_ works.

Oh and i forgot to mention, we MIGHT make a Cameo, that does NOT have the mp3 player in it, as a separate version. We are considering this, as we do know not everyone wants the mp3 player/ has the need for it. If we did this, the size and look would be the same as this one ( apart from the lcd display and excess of buttons )
