Yeah I too was confused by what you are describing. I can move my jfc in both directions very easily without it unscrewing anything.
My jfc doesn't really work well. It only turns 1/4 turn and it doesnt move the juice holes. I always have to turn the tank.

I can't turn it any more. The last picture is with it tightened down fully. I would have to get vise grips and shatter the tank to tighten it to where the holes line up, and that would be counterproductive.

Well that's effed up. All of my 5 are able to move.

on both of mine i can keep turning it all day long clockwise, something is wrong.

My merlin and griffins turn all day clockwise but my gemini does what trent is describing and I don't think it is supposed to. I recall one video I watched (probably riptrippers) talking about how it got harder to turn when it was filled with juice so I think that is what is happening to my gemini, and possibly trents merlin. I should grab my now washed/emptied gemini out of the stash and see if it turns continuously clockwise now that there is no juice in it when I go down stairs next.

Can you spin the knurled ring with no tank on?

I encountered the same problem after my last tank cleaning. Discovered that i had not screwed on the chamber tight enough. Now I open the juice control by turning clockwise. But I guess that's already been tried. I find RTAs in general to be problematic when it comes to all these moving parts. Like opening and closing the air holes often rotates the deck. But thanks to the FDA manufacturers can't make any more improvements due to their stupid legislation.

This is the comment I am referring to.Maybe he doesn't realise there are two separate rings. That's the only thing that really makes sense. Twisting the glass controls the juice flow twisting the afc ring changes the airflow.

I can't, I can turn the glass until it just passes the jfc holes, then it's solid, it won't travel any farther. The jfc hole is covered.
So I fill the tank in that position, and turn the glass anti clockwise to open the jfc.
It only needs to be turned back the width of the jfc because it's right beside the holes when it's closed.
It works beautifully, no leaks everything tightened down.

Not sure why this is so fng hard to explain or for others to understand. The glass is secured bt the top piece and chimny. We will call this the tank. The tank is threaded onto the jfc ring (which on mine does not turn all the way).

Short of wasting hours uploading video I cant explain any more. I just can't. Done with this aspect of it.

Btw i got the tank to thread all the way on. By using force, which i dont like, but I think i compressed the oring too much cause now it is flooding. . Either way the jfc ring (NOT THE AFC RING) i know the 2. Doesnt really do much. The tank assembly turning on its threads is the ONLY THING that can physically move the chimney holes to line up with the holes on the deck.
The jfc ring just gives the illusion of it actually rotating the chimney.

If you can't grasp the GLASS tank on the Merlin and spin it FREELY, around and around, you have a BAD tank! Perhaps taking it fully apart and inspecting it, if you can't find what's STOPPING it from FREELY SPINNY, return it!

Can we move on to the next PROBLEM? :)

It's not hard to explain. You still haven't answered my question though. Without the tank on, can you move the ring a full 360 degrees clockwise?
Give me 15 minutes ill vape the little bit of juice out and try, but I cant with the tank on.

The only way my tank spins is by unthreading it from the deck.
