this is what I do with the merlin and griffin (this reminds me I need to order a couple more of the griffins as I only bought one x 22 and one x 25 griffin) tanks. The only tank I have that I have to turn counter clockwise to open the JFC is the griffin which makes me dislike it enough that I washed out last night and put it away today with the other gemini I bought.Trent, I never, ever turn the tank counter clockwise to open the juice holes...once I screw the base back on, and turn the tank section clockwise to close the juice holes, fill, replace top, and then CONTINUE to turn the tank section clockwise only to get the juice holes back open. Never counter clockwise. Works for me.
So it never gets loosened. Never feels like it is going to loosen and fall off.
NOTE: I may have totally misunderstood what you were saying in your post. If so....just ignore everything I just said!!![]()
You just need to turn the glass clockwise to open again, never turn it counter clockwise once you have it tightened.Okay,
In this picture I have it like I normally do when I am using it. The juice holes are fully open, but the tank is about 3/4 of a turn counter clock wise unscrewed (from fully tightened). I can either tighten the tank fully or unscrew it some more to close the juice holes. But with this configuration, The tank is always unscrewed almost a full turn to open the juice holes.

Now in this picture I have the tank screwed all the way down, and the juice holes are closed. BUT look how close it comes to the juice holes in the deck. They are less than a half inch away from being open with the tank fully tightened. Why not make it to where it can tighten all the way down and just pass the juice holes. If they did that, Then the tank would be tightened down and you would only have to unscrew the tank a little to open the holes. It would also help the glass make a tighter seal with the o rings when the juice flow holes are fully opened.
IMO I think this may be what is causing some of the flooding/leaking issues. It's a little odd when the tank has to be unscrewed almost a full turn to open the juice holes for normal use. They may have fixed this in the newer versions with the square holes or the GIANT juice holes, but I don't have one of the new tanks to check that on.
Hope this helps explain the issue.![]()
I am turning the glass. The arrow was just over the ring.turn the glass not the jfc ring
Lol, That's what I'm saying. I am not sure if it has something to do with them being made in china. But I don't know if they're all like that or just some (Including mine). My Merlin has been like that since the day I got it. Not sure if they just kind of randomly poke the holes in, or randomly machine some threads in, or if the guy was just drunk when he was operating the machine to make my tank, but I wasn't sure if this was normal.Well that's effed up. All of my 5 are able to move.
Ive tried 3 different glass tanks. I have the new clear one on that they sent me. Ive also had the 2 black ones that I took the tinting off.Try putting the spare glass on. I have a hunch one is a hair long and it's compressing the jfc ring.
Next time I rebuild I'll try it with them off and see if that makes a difference.Well.... how about replacing three orings?1) where the glass goes in the topcap.
2) where the glass goes into the barrel
3) the small one that connects the chimney and barrel.
Seems like the compression is off.
