So there is a tiny amount of leaking happening with cotton wick. Maybe I didn't wick it perfectly but I can live with that. Still, I wonder if there is a way to use ReadyXWick and not have the leaking. I might order another Merlin rta to see what happens.
Won't have any leaks with the Engine...

Yeah I was on the verge of ordering another Merlin when I stumbled across your thread on the Engine Nano. So I ordered that instead :thumb:
I hope you like these as much as I do. I loved the Merlin's until these came out. For me they are the best tank I've used so far.

Enjoying a leak free vape on the merlin…using a 3mm wick and wick tails barely intrude into the cup.

I did add an extra o-ring below the jfc when I broke it down though.

Key to keeping this atty air tight is to lube the orings on the base and the top cap.

My Merlin has been leak free since I went back to to using cotton. I don't know if RxW just doesn't work with these tanks or if I'm not using it correctly but...not even a tiny bit of moisture is leaking when I use cotton.

    Somewhere between here and there
I've been using koh gen doh cotton( I think that's how you spell it) on all of my tanks. I'm not really sure why I didn't have seeping and do now but it's the same on both of the merlins that I have in rotation. I have a couple more in storage and haven't tried those yet.

The pressfit base is beginning to separate and its just going to get worse, the oring inside the base(you can't see till you split the base apart) isn't doing the job no more. You can try with 2 sockets tapping the base back together some but thats a bandaid fix and your compromising the factory pressing. With it heating then cooling the coil part of base gets tired then begins to move from expanding and contracting and soon you will join Merlin Seep Club and become frustrated with it enough to shelf the Merlin and move on.
edit...It has nothing to do with the wicking or how its wicked, juice coming out the airflow is wicking issue. Your juice is coming out the bottom onto your hitter so its seeping.

I am in love with the merlin. Been using 2 daily since July with zero leaking problems ever. I go through about 10 mls per day per tank, so each tank has had around 2 liters of juice through them with not a single leak. I have 12 spare merlins in my vapocalypse box, along with 50 510 pins for them, 100 of each size o ring, 100 spare screws, and 75 spare glass pieces. I plan on vaping these for a long time.

I think the Merlin is a great tank as well, and I've been blessed with no leaking. Having said that, I wouldn't totally stock up on tanks and replacement parts of a single tank design for my vapocalypse stash. I personally feel safer with an assortment of well performing stuff and have the risk spread out. There do appear to be problems for some with the press fit base. While you an I may not have experienced that, there is no way to be sure all 12 Merlins in your stash will performs as well as the first two that are dry. I've been going with doubles on my favorite tanks for my stash with trios on a few favorites that should stand the test of time.

BTW, along with all those spare parts you already laid in, you might as well throw some extra grub screws in now as well as long as you're thinking replacement parts.

Where did you get the 510s for them? Someone in this thread stripped theirs.
    Link?
