My replacement black Merlin was shipped today. I instructed my supplier to check the jfc. I have come to love my Merlin. It shelved my Bachelor. Max VG and she keeps up at 70 watts with no problem. I don't see myself buying the newer version. In my case it would be a waste of money.

My silver one shipped today as well. As it is a Father's Day gift, I didn't get to check with the seller about the jfc, but hopefully all will be well when it finally arrives on Wednesday (I was so tempted to just order it myself a few weeks ago, but my daughter wanted to get it for me).

I don't recall any problems with the JFC on the SS. Seems like it was only the first runs of the black ones that had the issue.

Just got a pair of these today, with original-style round juice holes (from STS). I had some SS316 coils laying around, having cut the legs a bit too short when winding for my Bachelors. Glad I kept them though, since the Merlin deck found them perfectly acceptable, so I started out with a spaced 9-wrap 26ga 3mm ID coil resisting at 0.68ohm, in TC. Restrictor out, wide open for air and juice. Nice flavor, but insufficient wick led to gurgle and seep for my 70VG fluid. Re-wicked tightly with a fat swack of cotton, tucked all around, cleared away from the airflow and pushed back a tad through the juice holes, and it's all good now.

The flavor is superb, rivaling the Bachelor. Is it better? Hard to tell, for me. Then again, the Merlin practically begs for the kinds of fancy coiling that I haven't ventured yet, so it may have more potential here. But even with this simple coil it's all too easy to make the juice disappear quickly, which has me pining for the extra mL I can squeeze into the Bachelor.

So, I wish it were bigger. I wish the little O-ring stayed tightly in its groove on the top-fill roof...I nearly lost both of mine during the rinsing phase of initial clean-up! Except for coil installation, the Bachelor beats it for convenience, due to the hinged top-fill and easier cleaning between flavors. And it would be nice if Merlin sat flush on my VTC Minis, but it gaps a little.

It's clearly a keeper, though! That velocity deck has me wanting to make the twisted, or parallel, or Clapton coils that the Bachelor's leg holes won't accommodate. I think I'll experiment with the restrictors, too, since I still enjoy MTL and have plenty of higher-nic liquid wanting some time in rotation.

Well mines on its way back

Main reason - i got sick of the wobbling like an irish drunk, this is after screwing it down tighter than any other tank ive seen, probably bottoming out the pins in both my mods - not happy about that either, still wouldnt behave... and doing god knows what to the threads/pins of my mods, none of which are cheap, i dont need them being screwed up by a defective 510 pin. Ive had countless tanks, ones ive owned, ones ive demo'd and this was the first tank ive ever seen not sit properly on either mod, and wobble every time i picked it up. Unacceptable, maybe they were having a bad day in the factory that day, not my problem.

This is not an inexpensive tank when you have to have it shipped to Australia....

Secondary - you guessed it, the pointless juice flow control, what a pointless pain in the .....

Im back to my Lemo 2's and Avocado, they like every other tank ive ever had/seen fit properly, and also dont have unnecessary crap for marketing purposes.

Shame, i really thought this was going to be the tank to replace my Lemo's...

What mods were you using it with?

The ones in my sig, TreeBox, and the Efusion DNA 200, plus just to throw it a curveball i threw it on my old MVP 30...same problem on all 3. Tired of this i contacted my mate under whose account we both ordered one and got him to check his (he hadnt even unwrapped his yet) on his identical Efusion DNA200 and it fits his and other mods perfectly, no wobble or gap. So its clear mine is defective.

Im getting rather tired of returning badly made stuff, thats the 5th dodgy (for a range of reasons) tank in a year.

So yet again, ill get screwed on the postage sending it back and ill come out on the minus side.

At least when i sent my Crown tank back the lovely head of Uwell i sent my tank to personally refunded the postage as well, and threw in a replacement tank which i paid forward (its had mixed success with its owner). Once i get screwed by vape gear that brand/model is dead to me for good, i do not do replacements. The only company ill give a second chance to is Uwell, they at least did do customer service (unlike say, JoyeTech), admitted there was an issue openly (unlike say, JoyeTech) and resolved it (unlike say, JoyeTech)

Vape manufacturers need to lift their game.

I cant see sigs in tapatalk that's why I asked lol. Was also curious as both my black and ss fit sig75, ipv3, ipv3 li, rx 200 and omega mech box (granted it's a user adjustable 510) with no issues on any of them.

Sorry, forgot about bloody tapatalk :)

Actually just as i was refreshing here, someone on my home country (Australia) vaping forum popped up to say
I agree with style about
the 510 thread, it's too long.

Seems im not the only one.....i like a bit of vindication

Lol I guess I'd have to say it sucks for you both then. I'm not even a fan of single coil rtas but it is a really nice vape. Looks to only be .5 to 1mm longer then my limitless though which I have to use a heatsink to get to work with my rx. It's 510 is to short otherwise.

No sent them both back. Nothing I did got rid of the intermittent switch on the one and the other never fired at all. Even swapped the domed switch screw for a fatter thicker head screw for my mephisto v2 spares. It shortened the throw and was big enough to span the gap on the plates for sure. Waiting now for them to finish the rma processing so I can move to tesla invader 3's instead.

It takes like about a minute and a piece of sandpaper on a flat surface to correct that but it seems more natural for some to just crank it down with a pipe wrench forcing the 510's insulator out of it's housing.

My point: why should i have to fix something i paid for (twice what you lovely americans and overseas people pay most likely) that was supposed to work as described....

If i bought a TV that didnt turn on, i wouldnt start pulling it apart either. Back it would go.

Go to a hardware store and find the thinnest 7/8 inch diameter nylon or mylar washer to use as a spacer on the stupid shallow joyetech 510 connections...

Lol, I've never had that issue with any of them being to long. In all honesty the only atty I've ever had a problem with length is the limitless being to short.

Did you try a heatsink with it? I know there was mention of some having to use one with their boreas on the rx. I've not had that issue with any of my 3 of that atty personally though.
