I'm at a loss to explain why this is working but I have 4 merlins all built identically. Kanthal 24g 5 wraps spaced wicked normally with cups full and butted up to the juice holes. This coil ohms out to .44 you would expect to run this at least 40w. I kept getting dry hits so I started backing the wattage down. I have confidence in my wicking. I'm at 25w 3.32 volts and getting the best flavor and vapor I've ever experienced. I would never have thought to run it that low but it's working perfectly the same in all 4 tanks. I see bubbles after ever pull and its wicking like a champ. Plenty of dense flavorful vapor. I'm baffled but pleased at the battery life and juice conservation. Absolutely no leaks. My advice... Turn it down below where you think it should be and give it a shot

I have been running a 1.4 ohm coil for weeks at 11 watts and the flavor is just amazing.

Some setups need the juice holes filled (Bachelor, RBA heads) because it's a direct shot to the coil.
But with a cup feeding a channel one should be able to treat it more like an RDA (or the 'Mizer/Boreas) and let the tails control the flow within the chamber.
And percentage of VG will matter as well of course... that's where the JFC comes in.

With a non-leaking base... it's possible (proper?) to lay a portion of the tail into the upper channel and the rest around it (DO NOT touch the air channel... that's slow leak city), and allow the juice to come in the hole, fill the cup and meet the wicking at the top. JFC if needed.

Works for me. No need to hold back on the power.

I've noticed the same thing. My coils are around .6 ohms and running around 17 - 18 watts. I'm loving it. Not using the reducer screw.

i have one tank with it removed and one with it in. the one with it removed im running a spaced clapton coil and the one with it still in im just running at spaced 26g SS coil. both are SS coils running in TC mode. i am not able to take very long draws. im pretty sure its my wicking and not how you would expect. i think im packing them too tightly in the coil and are not fluffy enough. otherwise im wicking like everyone else is with the wick ends just sitting on the tops of the cups. going to try another way after i polish off this tank.

also my coils IDs are wide. id say 3.5ish on the clapton and around 4.5ish on the regular.

Had some juice "aging" at work for 8 months and 7 months. Stuff is darker than cola. "Aging", but in reality, I forgot about it. Delicious in Merlin.

Nice!

I ran a RockBoxed Sansa Clip+ for quite a while with a FiiO E11 Amp. Passed the Clip+ onto the wife when my Colorfly C3 arrived. I still run the C3 these days but use the FiiO X3/E12 combo with a pair of modded Fostex T50RP Ortho's mostly.

If I turn it down anymore I won't get anything at all. I would try another coil right off the bat but I'm pretty certain I won't be able to use that Notch coil again because the leads are so thin. I am going to try re wicking

Woot! I love my Clip! Couple of 32g cards, and it's a great work player. I play 16/44.1 Flacs. I use Audio Technica M50 cans.
I used to do audience recordings with AKG 460/ck1 mics recorded to flac, so I listen to those.
