Well, I had to come back with a report for all of you who helped me so much. And I did learn a lot, thx. I spoke with the original owner because he was concerned about my issue. He only took about 50 puffs then put it down because it wasn't his cup of tea. So, I don't think the o-rings have worn out but here's what happened:

I took it apart and inspected the o-rings. Because it's so hard to see black on black, I thought maybe one was missing and I didn't notice. What I didn't notice was that I don't think I had the chimney screwed completely in! This time I used my tweezer/gripper gizmo to tighten it and I felt the difference. (I say felt because I really can't see anything in there). I've been vaping it for about an hour and so far, so good.

I feel a bit embarrassed for putting all of you through your paces but nothing has gone to waste. I learned interesting and valuable information that I can take with me. Thanks, again everyone. Tasty little tank, isn't it?

Yes, it is. It really comes to life if you put a clapton, hive, etc type coil in there. I couldn't believe how much more flavor I got when I went from a straight wire to a pre-coiled clapton. I bought a roll of clapton but it ohm'd out pretty high for a single coil build so that will get used in dual coil builds and I am ordering some more spools of clapton for single coil builds.

Where are you buying your clapton wire from maybe shoot me a pm? I might try it. I also plan on buying some nickle and titanium wire to try because i really liked the tc with the tank.

I looked and couldn't find any warranty information on the Merlin tank,so that'll probably be a dead end.

SubTankSupply sells spare Merlin glass, get yourself some clear ones. If you write the owner he might toss in a few extra ones as he did for me when he sent the replacement base back. He knows how to do GREAT customer service, they just don't carry a lot of variety in products, but if I can, I will always buy from him or send business his way, unlike the HORRIBLE CS I've had to deal with, with VapeNW, a kid working out of his parents living room (yeah I've watched some of his bad sales videos on YouTube).

Anyways, mom always said: "It never hurts to ask".

Ill try that. The black looks great, but not if its going to peel like that. Good knowing that subtank is easy to deal with.

I agree about the ss.
I thought he meant the glass, too.
yes, me too. I bought a few black tanks during my panic buying spree but any/all tanks going forward will be SS only. They go with any mod and no worries about cheap coatings flaking off later.

I do mean the glass. The tinting chips off in little flakes. If i were to remove it, i think it would be harder to try and get it all off without leaving any bits behind.

Lol I must be tired or something. For some reason I was thinking that the tank has threads. I will try a hot soap bath on it tomorrow to try and get tinting film off.

I still don't see why they couldn't just put color in the glass. Even if they took the same tinting material and just molded 2 pieces of clear glass around it so that the film was in the middle. Like the clear safety film they put in a front windshield on a car. I guess it's better on the outside than the inside. I'm still going to send subtank an email and see what they say.

As for the tank I'll try the soapy water, I do have a razor scraper that I can use. I also have a dremel with a wire brush, as long as it doesn't scratch the glass.
