Where are you buying your clapton wire from? I might try it. I also plan on buying some nickle and titanium wire to try because i really liked the tc with the tank.

I looked and couldnt find any warranty information on the Merlin tank,so that'll probably be a dead end.

I still don't see why they couldn't just put color in the glass. Even if they took the same tinting material and just molded 2 pieces of clear glass around it so that the film was in the middle. Like the clear safety film they put in a front windshield on a car. I guess it's better on the outside than the inside. I'm still going to send subtank an email and see what they say.

As for the tank I'll try the soapy water, I do have a razor scraper that I can use. I also have a dremel with a wire brush, as long as it doesn't scratch the glass.
The simple answer is it costs more to do it.

Wow, You don't even really need a razor or knife or anything. Just spraying it with hot tap water out of the sink sprayer is enough to blast most of it off. That is surprisingly easy to come off. But it's china, I'll know next time to just get simple clear or unpainted hardware.

My Lavatube did the same thing with the chrome. The cheap chrome started to peel and flake off of the aluminum it was plated to. So I ended up taking a knife to it to scrape it all of then I got a dremel and wire brush and brushed the aluminum to a finish.

Crap, My tank is really flooded. Will laying it upside down for a while fix it? I used to put some paper towels under the Kayfun and swing it around like an idiot and it would fling the liquid out. Not sure if that would help in this one?

Nvm I am going to have to rebuild it. I went to flip it upside down and juice just poured out the drip tip. It also ran all the way down the mod. It seems like everyone is getting big leaking issues at the same time.

Wrap it with a paper towel and blow into the drip tip.
Lol my hands are covered in juice. I put that spare tank on it while I am removing the tint from the other piece and it leaked A LOT. I think that second tank isn't sealing very well at the top, because there is a spot where the tinting on that one is also gone at the edge. Just lost like a half tank of juice. :(

    Somewhere between here and there
If it's pouring out the drip tip then check the oring that's under the top cap. Mine was bad when I got it and had to replace it. It would leak if I flipped it upside down out of the drip tip.

Yea, There is almost no liquid in it now. I am about to take a wire brush wheel to the old tank and get the rest of the tint off. When I put the spare tank on, I just closed the JFC holes and unscrewed the top part of the chimney and glass, and switched the tanks. It's possible a oring moved. Either way I'm about to put the old one on and it will be clear this time.

The black tinting peeling off like that is really the only bad thing I can think of about the tank. They put the tinting on over the smoothed top of the glass so that it comes in contact with the inside part of the o rings, so there is a possibility that if I miss some it could flake off inside the tank so I need to really check that part.

I would suggest using a razor blade over a powered wire brush. It could fling the tank out of your hands... (I've seen it happen) It comes off very easy with a razor. Just be careful to not slice a finger off...

I've got it all off except for one small spot. I think it is more of a defect in the glass. Kinda molded into the glass. I am going to try to polish it out. Does this Pyrex glass stuff melt under low temp? Say abrasive temperature.

Well Subtank said they would send me a replacement clear glass so that's good. Pretty sure I will order from them again. Finally got the tint off the glass to a point. Some spots were pitted with some tint flakes in there. Not sure how their manufacturing process is for the glass but I think it would be interesting to find out.

Here is the tank as I was working on it. The first 2 is everything that was left from just spraying it with hot soapy water and using my fingernail to scrape the tint off.

So a few people have been asking about different colored glass for this tank that would fit. I have been trying to find some but nothing that is an exact fit.

If someone has their Merlin tank disassembled They could give this a try and see how much up and down movement there is when screwing the top fill piece into the chimney. If it allows you to screw it in or out further than the stock glass tank then these might work.

According to the specs from 3Fvape, The specs for the stock Merlin glass are as follows.

    Diameter: 23mm (0.91 inch)
    Height: 28mm (1.1 inch)

Now finding a tank with a 23mm diameter isn't that hard. The tricky part is trying to find one that is exactly 28mm tall. If the top piece and the chimney allow you to screw it in +- 2mm then some other tanks should fit.

I have found some tanks that are close to the height specs of the stock Merlin glass.

Replacement Translucent Red Glass Tank for SMOK TFV4 Tank (All colors on page are same size)
Height: 26mm (2mm shorter than stock Merlin glass)

Authentic Vapesoon Transparent Glass Tube for Ehpro Billow V3 RTA
Height: 29mm (1mm taller than stock Merlin glass If you wanted the extra capacity)

Billow V3 Styled RTA Rebuildable Tank Atomizer Red

Height: 27mm (Includes the whole RTA but just search replacement for this RTA)

I will let you know if I find any tanks that are an exact fit. If the top piece can adjust a couple mm either direction then these might work. You would just have to measure it the next time you go to rebuild the tank.

I wonder if the measurement for the vapesoon billow v3 glass is off? My billow v3 is 27 mm...

There are only 2. But the Merlin tank is a 28mm tall 23mm diameter.
Yours might be the 25mm. It's probably easier to get an exact measurement with the glass off.

Nope it's the 23 mm authentic billow v3. I pre-ordered it when it was first released back in March.
