Your cotton looks like penetrating through the deck and coming out from the AFC, very illusory.
I just washed the base and I have paper towel inside the air holes drying it out. Too lazy to go out to the garage to blow it out with compressor. I'm using Ekowool for the wick.

Anybody here tried hemp for wicking?
Yup, a local B&M brought in a degummed hemp wicking material once. After you picked out all the coarse bits the final wick had a taste that we labeled "Monkey A*s Hair". Not that we'd know what such would taste like, but could imagine it in regards to the hemp wick.

YMMV and there might be better hemp materials out there.

I have a thought of it imparting a nutty wood flavor. Or monkey asshair. Sounds tempting.
The nutty wood flavor is quite accurate, add some earthy overtones and your there. The B&M makes and sells a juice they call ADV that went quite nicely with the hemp, they had a similar flavor and seemed to work well together. The juice is great the wick not so much.

The hemp didn't sit so well with berries, citrus or bakery or anything else though...
Eventually all of it ended up in a dumpster out back of the shop and was written off as a loss.

I may be wrong, and FT description doesn't help, but it sure looks like they have a shorter top section and tank they just listed for the Merlin.

Not sure I'd quite call it nano, but it appears to be shorter, black and SS.

$3.51 Replacement Glass Tank + Top Cap for Augvape Merlin RTA Atomizer at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping
Confused on the glass. The one you linked to says 50mm in height with cap, while the original spare glass is 28mm.

Not sure of their measurements are real but that wouldn't be smaller.

That top has a much shorter chimney than the regular top, so I'm assuming it's either to turn your Merlin into a mini or it's a replacement for the Merlin mini tank. Can't tell which though. Probably conversion, otherwise why include the top piece with the glass?
How would it be a conversion at 50mm?
If it was it would have to be shorter than the original glass.

I used hemp in our protanks for ages, it kicks the crap out of cotton for durability but is a hassle to prep or else you get that woodzy taste. With tweezers I had to remove the bunnies and off colored shards. I assumed the off colored shards were shredded stalk pieces and contributed to the woodzy taste, also removed the bunnies since I was already removing the shards. My hemp builds had no woodzy breakin taste at all....my wife would have been the first to tell me. :)
I didn't boil the hemp either since I began using hemp around the time when boiling everything was all-a-rage.
Been building coils over 3 years now and the novelty wore off a long time ago so its turned into "have to do" thing and a long term hobby but its still fun to twist this and clapton that. If I was a new builder I would skip over all other wicking material and straight to using rayon to wick with.

FWIW....As long as my merlin sits on a mech that doesn't quite sit flush ontop the 510, it doesn't seep but put it onto a atty stand or a floating pin hitter it begins to seep...weird. I have the merlin sitting on a old KTS+ with a solid pin and a gap with very little juice on the bottom of the atty. I can say that my merlin does hold vacuum pretty good since it can sit for a couple days then open up the top and have a large air bubble come out of the juice hole, inwhich could be apart of its seeping but I dunno. I'm assuming me putting a 2nd thicker oring into the AFC groove along with a thin one(removing the stock oring) has corralled the seeping to a point but I have to be conservative with the building of coils for the merlin since its atty life is going to be spent on top of a mech.
